The 2025 QB class in Georgia is loaded with players who either started or had significant playing time as freshmen. Still, due to their age, those are prospects who are out of the public eye, for the most part.
Here, we take a look at some 2025 Georgia QBs that you should keep an eye on as they head into their Sophomore seasons.
Antwan Hill Jr | 6’4 | Houston County
Hill Jr is considered to be "the standard" by many across Georgia for 2025 QBs, and you can see why. First of all, he has some incredible size for a QB at any age. To be 6’4 and over 200 pounds as a freshman is unbelievably impressive. He might still be growing into that frame, but he plays in it well enough as is. Hill is deadly accurate downfield. There is not a throw on the field that he can’t make. Shows nice anticipation, timing, and touch on all of his throws. Is definitely more of a pro-style type QB, but he moves nicely in the pocket and is quick enough to keep defenses honest. Now that offensive guru Coach Jeremy Edwards is leading Houston County, Hill should only continue to develop and become one of the premier QB prospects in the entire 2025 recruiting class. Spending his freshman season as the starter certainly won’t hurt his development either.

Luke Nickel | 6’2 | Milton
Nickel is the younger brother of [player_tooltip player_id="33880" first="Jack" last="Nickel"], a Michigan State TE signee, so football is in his blood. Nickel sat behind Virginia Tech QB signee [player_tooltip player_id="33991" first="Devin" last="Farrell"], but he is ready to take over as the main signal caller for Milton. What really stands out about Nickel is his fundamentals. Everything from his drop to his throwing motion to generating power from his back foot, he is one of the most mechanically sound QBs in the entire 2025 recruiting class. On top of that, he is super effective as a runner. Can extend plays with his legs or make defenders miss on designed QB runs, is also an extremely physical runner who is not afraid of contact. Nickel is already getting plenty of college attention, so a year of starting experience on varsity will only continue to boost his recruitment.

Shane Throgmartin | 6’2 | Mill Creek
Throgmartin will be right in the middle of a major QB battle with rising senior Hayden Clark, who was last year’s starter for Mill Creek. Regardless of if he gets the nod or not, Throgmartin has a lot to like on film and is certainly someone to watch over the next few years. For starters, he is comfortable and calm in the pocket. He stands tall in the face of pressure and can be seen taking some huge hits as he lets go of the ball. Throgmartin is about as naturally gifted as a passer as you can possibly be for his age. He is an extremely accurate passer that places the ball to where only his receiver can catch it. He also has a lot of arm strength, which allows him to fit the ball into tight windows. He may force some throws, but he is confident in his delivery and is willing to lay his body on the line.

TJ Wilcox | 6’1 | Collins Hill
Wilcox had to sit and learn behind Missouri signee [player_tooltip player_id="33893" first="Sam" last="Horn"] his freshman season, which will only prove beneficial to his development. When watching Wilcox, I can’t help but notice how similar he is to Alabama’s Bryce Young. For the record, when I compare a player to Bryce Young or anyone for that matter, I am comparing their skillsets and mannerisms. This does not mean I am placing unrealistic expectations on that player. Regardless, Wilcox has a bit of a longer release, but the ball flies off his hand which allows him to make up for that. He is able to throw on the run and off-platform without sacrificing any accuracy and has some nice touch on the deep ball. Some more varsity experience will do wonders for his development, and that is why he is on this list.

[player_tooltip player_id="251103" first="Dayson" last="Griffis"] | 5’11 | Appling County
Griffis is a smaller school prospect, so he will naturally be a little more underrated than everyone else. Nonetheless, he lets his game do the talking. When watching his film, you can’t help but notice his footwork in the pocket. It’s truly elite. For a player of his age, he is incredibly fundamentally sound and smart. Griffis also showcases a lightning-quick release which allows him to pick apart defenses in the short and intermediate passing games. He also has an absolute cannon for an arm and can throw the ball 60 yards or so downfield with ease. Is not a true dual-threat QB, but he does enough with his legs to extend plays and keep defenses honest. Griffis is one of the few on this list with starting experience on varsity, and that’ll prove beneficial for him.
