Here are a few Denmark Danes to know about for the 2021 season…
Shamurad Umarov Shamurad Umarov 6'6" | 275 lbs | OL Denmark | 2023 State GA – OT – Denmark
One of the top 2023 offensive line prospects in North Georgia, Umarov is a big 6-foot-6 295-pounder who is seeing his recruitment soar over the last few weeks. He has a nice frame, plenty of length, and will continue adding solid weight and muscle. He plays with a solid base and shows impressive footwork for someone his size. He’s still learning, but he’s getting better and better each day. He has big, strong hands and developed and learned more and more as the season moved along last fall. He’s recently earned new offers from Georgia, LSU, and Auburn.
Dee Crayton Dee Crayton 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Denmark | 2023 State GA – LB – Denmark
One of the most dynamic players his 7A region, Crayton is an impressive two-way player who was a tackling machine last fall. The 6-foot-2 215-pounder is extremely versatile and can line up at middle linebacker, outside linebacker, and blitz from anywhere eon the field. He has a nose for the football and has enough speed to go sideline to sideline to get to the ball carrier. He’s great at getting after the passer but is reliable when dropping back into coverage as well. The 7A Region 6 Defensive Player of the Year made 91 tackles, 14 TFLs, and made four sacks on the season, leading a Danes defense that was one of the state’s best among all classifications.
Amon Williams Amon Williams 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Denmark | 2023 State GA – Running Back
Maybe the most underrated back in the region, Williams was an impact player for the Danes last fall, earning All County, All Region, and All Metro honors after a big junior season. He had over 1,000 scrimmage yards last fall, proving to be a dependable and reliable option offensively. He’s got great vision, he’s explosive, and he’s a dangerous weapon out of the backfield. He’s a threat to make a big play any time he touches the ball, and he touched it a lot last fall. He’ll be one of the top returning RBs in North Georgia next fall.
Ty Woodruff – Wide Receiver
A breakout candidate for the 2022 season, Woodruff is a taller, longer receiver at 6-foot-5 who does a great job of tracking the ball and making a big play in the redzone. The 2023 receiver didn’t light up the stat sheet last year, but he came on strong at the end of the season, catching two touchdown passes against Grayson in their final game of the season. As he continues to develop and put on weight, Woodruff could become a big-time player to know over the next few months.
Che Ojarikre – ATH
One of the top overall athletes on the team, Ojarikre is a long, athletic defensive back with track speed. He’s got D!-caliber length and speed, and his best football is still way ahead of him. He’s still developing as a defensive back, but it’s easy to see the tools and potential. After a big junior season, Ojarikre recently earned an offer from Georgia Southern. Defensively, Ojarikre made 39 tackles and defended four passes.
Other players to know:
Will Hodges – 41 tackles, 15 TFLs, and 10 sacks
Lake Thorman – 34 receptions for 603 yards and 4 TDs
