The big time juniors of last season will soon become seniors and here we get a chance to learn the guys who stood out last season in the Houston area! We had many juniors step into the quarterback role and bring great success to their teams, all while putting up very good numbers in the process. These will be names you see heading into next season, and are guys who have the potential to be statewide and some even nationwide! [player_tooltip player_id="121951" first="Preston" last="Hatter"] - Klein Oak The lefty had himself an impressive junior campaign, throwing for 1,538 passing yards and 18 touchdowns. Hatter showed the zip on throws and the deep ball accuracy. He had very good touch on the ball and his ability to stand in the pocket at times cannot go unnoticed. What really made Hatter a difference maker was his ability to run. He proved to be a dynamic runner who changed the outcome of games with his legs. Opponents had to account for the dual threats abilities, as he ran for 1,231 yards with 23 touchdowns. He will be a big name heading into his senior year. [player_tooltip player_id="121943" first="Brady" last="Dever"] - Fort Bend Christian Academy From here on out, Dever will now be referred to as "Dever Dimes". He just flat out balls. The flick of the wrist, the accuracy, and the dimes he delivers are top class. Dever showed that he has great pocket awareness, steps up when he needs to, and puts the ball where it needs to be. Dever makes the correct throws in order to lead and put his receivers in the correct spots. For his junior season, Dever threw for 3,958 yards and 57 touchdowns on 64% completion rate. He is another one who will be at the top of his class. [player_tooltip player_id="60838" first="Chase" last="Jenkins"] - Alief Taylor Jenkins showed to be a play extender and a quarterback who can put the ball in the correct spots consistently. He had a calm demeanor in the face of pressure and made the right reads. Jenkins was also a major threat to run, which we saw as he ran for 695 yards and 7 touchdowns. Jenkins showed great velocity on passes in the middle of the field and well covered. His ability to create outside of the pocket helped the team in big ways. On the season, Jenkins threw for 1,800 yards and 17 touchdowns on 60% completion rate. Duke Butler - Shadow Creek Butler threw for 1,891 yards and 29 touchdowns for his junior season and helped lead his team to a 9-3 record. Butler was decisive on his throws and got it out in a hurry. His throws were there before his receivers broke out of their routes and he placed it only where they could get it. He showed great confidence and athleticism in the pocket and will be a player to look out for next season. [player_tooltip player_id="226441" first="Gavin" last="Rutherford"] - Cinco Ranch With 2,752 passing yards and 29 touchdowns on the season, Rutherford put his impressive arm on display. Rutherford was an accurate quarterback and had good pocket awareness. He stepped up when needed and just let the ball loose. His placement on the corner and vertical routes were eye catching and he will definitely be an issue heading into his senior year. Nash Rankin - Stratford Rankin helped his team to a 10-2 record will throwing for 2,742 yards and 26 touchdowns his junior season. He made a living with the deep ball and usually hit his man in stride for big offensive plays. Rankin also showed the ability to take off when needed to get big yards. Rankin will be looked upon to be a leader again and to be even better for his senior season so keep tabs on him. Other Notable Top Quarterbacks: Davion Wilson - Dekaney 1,024 Passing Yards - 57% Completion - 12 Passing TDs - 3 INTs Jacob Smith - Grand Oaks Nehemiah Broussard - C.E.
