The list of names on the Class of 2024 list for wide receivers and tight ends is only nine players deep and these players aren’t household names around the state just yet.

But after our evaluation, we feel like these players have two more years to become the total package and be highly coveted by college recruiters.

[player_tooltip player_id="139296" first="Jimmar" last="Boston"], Westside

Boston was the leading receiver for the Rams last year. He caught 35 passes for 606 yards and eight touchdowns. His 6-0, 170-pound frame makes him a big-play threat as evidenced by his 17.3 yards per catch average.

[player_tooltip player_id="139297" first="Jyron" last="Waiters"], Wilson

Waiters proved to be valuable in the receiving game. The 6-1, 170-pound receiver was a true possession guy for the Tigers. He hauled in 27 passes for 133 yards and one score. He should be a bigger part of the passing game the next two years.

[player_tooltip player_id="267431" first="Avery" last="McFadden"], Hillcrest

McFadden blossomed in the Rams wide open attack. He caught 71 balls for 1,025 yards and 13 touchdowns. With quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="262574" first="Bennett" last="Judy"] returning, McFadden has a chance to be the one of the top receivers in the state next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="208338" first="Braylon" last="Staley"], Aiken

Staley is a speed guy and also doubles as a defensive back. He caught 43 passes for 638 yards and seven touchdowns. He added a punt return for a score as well. The Green Hornets were young last season and Staley will give them star power moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="208349" first="Ashton" last="Drayton"], Hanahan

The 6-0, 195-pound Drayton has a chance to be a special one out of the Lowcountry. He has speed and is not afraid to take a hit across the middle. He should only get bigger and more explosive going forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="208348" first="Tykeem" last="Martin"], Ridge Spring-Monetta

Martin proved to be a big-play threat for the Trojans. He had 25 receptions for 473 yards and five touchdowns. That’s an average of nearly 19 yards per reception. Those numbers could easily increase next season after a year in the weight room.

[player_tooltip player_id="267458" first="Ka’Mari" last="Hair"], Summerville

Another speed guy out of the Lowcountry, Hair could be a big-play threat for the Green Wave the next two years. He’s physical but can also run away from guys in the open field.

[player_tooltip player_id="267452" first="Kade" last="Caton"], Byrnes

The only tight end on the 2024 list, Caton was used more as a blocker than receiver with his 6-6, 225-pound body. But he did catch nine passes for 122 yards. As he continues to develop and grow, could turn into a big-time prospect.
