For years now, Mona Shores has been considered an elite High School Football program. Everything from the coaching, the talent, and culture is second to none. Mona Shores looks to compete for another state title with a big returning cast. Today I’ll outline the Sailor’s schedule and quickly break down each game.

Game-by-Game Breakdown
Aug. 26 vs. Lincoln (WI)
Cross-state matchups are always fascinating, and this one will be no exception as Mona Shores takes on Lincoln. Last season, Lincoln went 7-4 on the season, having narrowly lost their 2nd-round playoff matchup. 2021 was Lincoln’s best season in a decade, though they seem to have a great 2022 class. Without knowing too much about Lincoln, I’ll say they keep it close for a bit, but overall I see Mona Shores running away with this one.
Sep. 2 @ Rockford
A matchup between two West Michigan giants, this will be a gut check for both teams. Many questions will be answered during this game on both ends of the field, such as [player_tooltip player_id="243091" first="CJ" last="Ivy"]’s ability against a great offense and [player_tooltip player_id="232200" first="Mac" last="VandenHout"]’s QB Play against a top-tier defense. To add to the drama, Rockford loses a lot of talent to their 2022 class, while Mona Shores’ losses will be minimal. I have no doubt this will be a fantastic matchup!
Sep. 9 vs. Holland
Let’s be honest. It would be one of the biggest upsets in history if Holland defeats Mona Shores. I’ll leave it at that.
Sep. 16 @ Wyoming
Same as above. Wyoming hasn’t been able to get it done in quite a while, and I don’t see anything extraordinary happening this time around.
Sep. 23 vs. Union
If there were any trap game on Mona Shores’ schedule, it would be this one. Union, a historically horrible team, fought tooth and nail with Mona Shores in 2021, leading for much of the 1st half. Backed by a revamped coaching staff, Union is on the way up in a significant way. This game could be close, but in the end, I’m confident Mona Shores will come out on top.
Sep. 30 @ Zeeland West
It’s always fun when these two teams get together as they’re both historically great programs. Zeeland West was a good team last year that couldn’t compete with the best in the Green, with St. Josepth giving them an early playoff bounce. In 2021 this game went Mona Shores way by a score of 47-12, and I expect much of the same in 2022.
Oct. 7 vs. Zeeland East
The Chix are unfortunately not looking too hot after the departure of Coach Derek Pennington. They had a lackluster 2021, and I don’t see them competing against Mona Shores.
Oct. 14 vs. Reeths-Puffer
RP is, by all means, a team with talent, but they aren’t at that elite level. I’m looking forward to seeing what Cody Kater can build, but I’m afraid it’s a near-impossible task to defeat a team that beat you by 42 points the year prior.
Oct. 21 @ Muskegon
Here it is. This matchup will likely decide the OK-Green and will indeed have significant playoff implications. Both teams will be battle-tested, and all go. Assuming (and praying for) perfect health, this game will have some of the best athletes in Michigan facing off against one another. Muskegon will have a three-headed monster in [player_tooltip player_id="253303" first="Destin" last="Piggee"], [player_tooltip player_id="241282" first="Jake" last="Price"], and [player_tooltip player_id="274755" first="M’Khi" last="Guy"], not to mention their elite offensive line and always incredible defense. It’s in this game where the top Mona Shores stars need to shine bright. [player_tooltip player_id="243090" first="Sam" last="Wahlberg"], [player_tooltip player_id="243089" first="Dahmir" last="Farnum"], [player_tooltip player_id="243093" first="KeWaun" last="Farnum"], [player_tooltip player_id="243091" first="CJ" last="Ivy"], [player_tooltip player_id="253309" first="Luke" last="Emmons"], I’m looking at you guys. This right here is an exciting rivalry that will decide a ton going into the postseason.
