The OK-Blue is graduating a ton of top-tier talent which means many athletes will have to step up. On each team, there are offseason heroes working their tails off day in and day out to produce breakout seasons for 2022. Here are 4 of those potentially special athletes!
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Unity Christian DE <a class="uni-link--implied" href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/16979452">[player_tooltip player_id="235728" first="Mitchell" last="Sparpana"]</a></span></strong>
The Crusader’s best returner is also set for an absolute breakout year. Unity Christian loses an outstanding amount of talent which gives Sparpana, an athlete who played a minimal varsity role last season, right into the core of the defense. One of the things that really stood out to me about Unity Christian in 2021 was the dominance of their first 7. They obviously have a great lifting program at UC and I predict Sparpana will be more than ready to wreck some OK-Blue offensive lines. I could see Sparpana being a solid varsity starter at worst, and an all-region candidate at best.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">West Catholic WR <a class="uni-link--implied" href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15015210">[player_tooltip player_id="253301" first="Chaz" last="Vida"]</a></span></strong>
As I’ve said in the past, Vida is an awesome athlete that was held back with injury in 2021. The class of 2024 receiver is shifty and versatile, and he’ll be able to be used in multiple ways in the West Catholic offense. In general, West Catholic has lots of intriguing talent coming up the pipeline.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Coopersville QB Beau Harris</span></strong>
Harris was quite impressive when I watched him against Allendale. He wasn’t on my radar prior, but he dropped a few dimes against the Allendale defense. I loved his competitiveness and passion. If he’s continuing to work on his game in the offseason, the Coopersville offense could be greatly improved, and they could be a threat in the OK-Blue once more.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Fruitport QB Kayden Beardsley</span></strong>
Not much is known of Beardsley except the fact that he’s set to take over the QB position for Fruitport, last held by [player_tooltip player_id="93699" first="Gavin" last="Reames"]. Fruitport’s offense is a gunslinging offense. Built on deep throws and great receiver play, the QB position will make and break Fruitport’s season. Perhaps it’s too early to call for a breakout season for Beardsley, but with the nature of Fruitport’s offense, he’s bound to put up some great numbers.
