North Little Rock Charging Wildcats 2021 Season Recap

Over the past few years, the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats have been one of the state’s most consistent football teams. The Charging Wildcats finished with a 10-3 record on the season and put together some impressive victories against teams like Fayetteville, Fort Smith Northside, and Springdale Har-Ber. We are going to take a brief look back at the 2021 season and take a look ahead at the players who have the potential to do big things next season. Looking first at the offensive side of the ball, junior quarterback Malachi Gober had an impressive 2021 season. Gober does a great job of extending the play and moves around in the pocket enough for his wide receivers to get open. Meanwhile, opposing defenses have to guard against the pass as well as the run. Gober uses his legs well to pick up extra yards via the ground. He is going to be a quarterback to watch out for during the 2022 season. The North Little Rock offensive backfield is going to be one to watch in 2022. Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id="142938" first="Torrance" last="Moore"] exploded on to the scene last season. Moore has the potential to have an even stronger 2022 football season. Moore does a great job of finding the rushing lanes and exploding through them. He is a player that can be used effectively in the passing game and can make big plays in the passing game as well. Moore has the potential to have a big 2022 season. He is already drawing the interest of the University of Arkansas and was recently at a prospect camp. Meanwhile, the wide receiver corps for the Charging Wildcats is a talented one as preparation begins for the 2022 season. North Little Rock will need to replace talented wide receiver Felix Wade in 2022. Wade displayed good hands and impressive speed during the 2021 football season. Junior wide receiver Cory Henderson Jr shows a knack for running consistent routes and getting open by using his strong route running skills. Freshman wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="180373" first="Jace" last="White"] is going to be a wide receiver to watch over the next few seasons. He uses his speed well and is a threat to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. However, the Wildcats are not just talented on the offensive side of the ball, plenty of talented prospects are on the defensive side of the ball. Replacing senior safety Jonathon Grayson will not be an easy task. Grayson had a nose for the football and did not shy away from making a strong tackle. Junior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="91977" first="Deontae" last="Young"] is a playmaker in defending the run as well as the passing games. Freshman linebacker Demarcus Williams is a player to watch out for on the defensive side of the ball. He plays with good speed at the position and can disrupt the offensive backfield. Junior defensive end [player_tooltip player_id="147147" first="Robert" last="Burgess"] is another prospect that can cause chaos for the opposing offensive backfield. Burgess will be a player to watch in 2022 and is a player to watch at the camps as well.
