The NextGen camp series kicked off its 2022 tour this past weekend in Orlando, Fla. at Celebration High School. NextGen Camps evaluate more than 5,000 athletes each year. In its seven-year history athletes have received nearly 8,000 Division 1 scholarship offers. NextGen All-America Showcase camps have quickly become one of the nation’s most respected Middle School and High School Underclassmen Showcase Camps.
Here is a look at the Defensive Backs in the classes of 2026 and 2027 that stood out to us.

Most fundamentally sound defensive back in the younger group. Only allowed one catch during the one-on-one period and understood the importance of leverage and patience. Smooth back pedal with a quick break (especially on turf). Low hip drive when attempting 5-10-5 shuttle with noticeable explosion in his broad jump. If he grows, he will be dominant in high school.

Fundamental and athletic DB who looked smooth in drills. Consistently dominated in one-on-one's. Showed flexible hips and performed well in combine. Looked superior to others his age. Physical and has the ability to adapt to receiver’s size and speed using press or off man.

Physical defensive back who didn’t allow receivers off the ball. Jammed receivers out of bounds three times and showed the ability to play off man, as well. Did decent in combine drills despite an obvious lack in being taught technique in 40-yard dash and 5-10-5. He is a raw, but a natural athlete that may have the most potential out of all defensive backs in his class at the event. Allowed only 1 catch in one-on-one's out of seven reps. May be a top talent in Florida in high school at the DB position if he develops consistently. Left with an MVP medal heading to The Show.

Small defensive back but impressed me with his coverage skills. Competed with bigger athletes with minimum technique. Quick and can stay with anyone even at his size. Was in everyone’s hip pocket all day. Allowed catches but I see something special once he gets bigger. Short memory and wasn’t scared to compete.

Small defensive back who showed good technique for his age. Showcased off, and press man, while maintaining leverage. Very patient and broke even in his one-on-one matchup's. Great upside and potential. Looked smooth in drills with hands like a receiver. Good looking 5-10-5.
