The 2021 season for the Little Rock Catholic Rockets were a bit of a mixed bag. Little Rock Catholic finished with a 2-9 record on the season but were able to make a playoff appearance. However, the Rockets did fall short in several close games throughout the season in 2021. We are going to take a look at some of the key players from last season as well as give a brief recap throughout this article.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Catholic Rockets will see [player_tooltip player_id="155351" first="Preston" last="Scott"] graduate in the spring of 2022. During his career with the Rockets, Scott has always shown good touch on the deep ball. Scott throws with good zip on the ball and can fit the football into some tight windows. Sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="271228" first="Thomas" last="Duch"] will likely see playing time at both the quarterback and wide receiver positions next season. The quarterback spot should be a talented one for the Rockets next season.
The rushing attack for the Rockets will see a number of players have an opportunity to carry the football. Sophomore running back Dominic Keeton had some impressive plays late in the 2021 season. Keeton is a shifty runner with good speed. He has the ability to make people miss and it will be interesting to see how many carries he gets per game next season. Junior safety [player_tooltip player_id="240356" first="Sam" last="Sanders"] will have an opportunity to receive some carries next season as well. Sanders runs with good power and has the ability to run right over opposing tacklers.
Little Rock Catholic will have some intriguing targets in the passing game. Sophomore wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="273027" first="Brooks" last="Ward"] presents a talented target for the Catholic quarterbacks. At 6’2”, Ward is an athletic red zone target. Ward has the talent to high point the football and make big plays in the passing game.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Rockets have a talented player lurking in the secondary in the form of [player_tooltip player_id="240356" first="Sam" last="Sanders"]. Sanders is always around the football, and he does a terrific job of making plays on the ball. Sanders has flown under the radar; however, he has the opportunity over the next few months to really open some eyes in the state of Arkansas. The defensive side of the ball has the potential to be a talented unit this season.
