Establishing the run is key for any offense to have success. Having a great running back is key to winning games. Even better is when you have a running back who has the ability to take off early in their career. The Prep Redzone Indiana Class of 2025 Watch List features three outstanding running backs who can do a lot to contribute for their teams. These three prospects will be players to watch over the next three years. [player_tooltip player_id="196691" first="Brandon" last="Malott"], Caston [player_tooltip player_id="196691" first="Brandon" last="Malott"] has set himself up to have a big role in the Caston program for years to come. Malott’s primary contributions to the varsity team this past season came on the defensive side of the ball. He appeared in two contests for the Comets’ varsity squad in 2021, where he recorded six tackles. Malott is listed as a superback, showcasing his versatility. Heading into next season, he could find a plethora of ways to help the team. Teams will want to keep an eye on what [player_tooltip player_id="196691" first="Brandon" last="Malott"] does in his sophomore campaign. [player_tooltip player_id="196649" first="Nyrius" last="Moore-Smith"], 5’8, 140 pounds, Whiteland In just his freshman season at Whiteland, [player_tooltip player_id="196649" first="Nyrius" last="Moore-Smith"] burst on to the scene in all three phases for the Warriors. Offensively, he can be lined-up at running back or receiver. As long he gets the ball in his hands, he is dangerous. Defensively, Moore-Smith is a solid defensive back. He does particularly well against the run. Moore-Smith is capable of taking on- and defeating-blocks- and making the play. On special teams he is an electric kickoff returner. Moore-Smith has good speed and vision. Once he sees the opening, he bursts through and then glides across the field. In six varsity appearances this past year, Moore-Smith carried the ball 20 times for 220 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught one touchdown pass. On the defensive side of the football, Moore recorded four total tackles with one forced fumble. When returning kickoffs, Moore-Smith presented a threat to the coverage unit as he averaged over 20 yards per kickoff return. [player_tooltip player_id="196641" first="Dallas" last="Coleman"], 5’11, South Vermillion [player_tooltip player_id="196641" first="Dallas" last="Coleman"] made an impact both as a runner and as a receiver this past year for South Vermillion. On the school’s freshman team, he showed good speed in the open field. Once Coleman gets some space, he has the ability to take it the distance. As a running back, Coleman had 16 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns. All season long, Coleman was a dynamic receiving threat. He grabbed 23 receptions for 381 yards and seven touchdowns. [player_tooltip player_id="196641" first="Dallas" last="Coleman"]’s contributions were not limited to offense, though, as he did have a significant impact when returning kickoffs. Coleman accumulated over 200 kickoff return yards. He also made his presence felt on defense, where he posted 27 total tackles, with 21 being solo. Coleman also recorded one tackle-for-loss, one interception and two passes defensed on the year.
