There are dozens of names going through my head right now on potential breakout stars throughout the state. For this article, I’ll be sticking to the OAA Blue. Throughout the Blue, White, and Red, there are dozens of players ready to dominate varsity football. Here are just 5 of those players in the Blue that will stand out in 2022.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Troy DB <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/16325583/Jaielen-Peacock">Jaielen Peacock</a></span></strong>
Peacock has already proven to be a solid corner. The Class of 2025 DB is set to receive significant varsity snaps during the 2022 season and already made some good plays in 2021. Notably, Peacock has been able to stick with whoever he’s covering and he’s able to play the man well. He’s also an able tackler who can deliver a big hit at times. With some touching up on his fundamentals, Peacock can be a sophomore standout for the Colts.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Athens RB/LB <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/14454158/Anthony-Ashor">[player_tooltip player_id="216992" first="Anthony" last="Ashor"]</a></span></strong>
Ashor has had spurts of really nice play against interleague opponents. As a running back, he has good vision and runs very hard. He’s able to gain all the yardage he can and then some. Defensively, he has great instincts and is able to make great TFL’s and he’s a great tackler. With a great offseason, Ashor will be a force to be reckoned with.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Avondale QB/S <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15110823/Tyler-Herzog">[player_tooltip player_id="216986" first="Tyler" last="Herzog"]</a></span></strong>
Having been around Tyler quite a bit, I can confidently tell you he’s an incredibly hard worker who has a competitive drive that very few have. He showed flashes of greatness at both the QB and Safety positions, and he’s set up to be even better in all aspects in 2022. Starting on offense, he’s able to read a defense well and go through his progressions before he makes accurate throws. He has some great weapons in [player_tooltip player_id="188032" first="Eric" last="Christoff"], Justin Skyes, with a good offensive line. I’m confident that Tyler will perform very well at QB in 2022. In terms of Safety, he has great instincts and can hit like a truck. He’ll only improve on the defensive front.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Berkley QB <a class="uni-link--implied" href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/14265699">[player_tooltip player_id="216984" first="Sunny" last="Kadlitz"]</a> </span></strong>
Kadlitz very impressively started on Varsity as a sophomore and showed flashes of great throwing talent. At times he demonstrated very good deep, mid, and short accuracy, and he’s really able to sling the ball in there on short throws. There were times when he would struggle but with a year of Varsity under his belt with a relatively small 2021 class, Kadlitz could shoot up the rankings this season.
