We've updated our 23' Rankings totaling 400+ student athletes being ranked as well as another 100+ on our watch list. All of the ranked prospects currently have the skill set to play at the next level ranging from FBS caliber down to D3 caliber. We are constantly looking to add to our rankings as it's a component of our database that is used by college coaches at the next level. If you're currently not ranked and feel like you should be, fill out our FREE Player Index to get on our radar and more importantly be in our NCAA Approved Database. This is important because college coaches can contact you straight off your free account as it's another tool to help you in your recruiting. All of that being said, here are a few stock risers from this rankings update that deserve more attention than what they're currently getting.
[player_tooltip player_id="135532" first="Isaiah" last="Gonzalez"] Twitter Mr. Gonzalez was a newer name to me heading into this fall season and I had the chance of being able to scout him in person during the regular season where he didn't disappoint. Upon seeing him in person as well as analyzing his full season highlights he got a bump in our rankings. He's projected to be an interior run blocking offensive lineman at the next level as the foundational skill set that he currently possesses leans more towards run blocking being his strong suit. That being said, he has shown glimpses of being able to anchor in his pass protection at times showcases the potential that he has in terms of improving his pass protection. The potential that this young man has is high in my eyes, pair that with his aggressiveness at the point of attack and you get to understand why he's ranked in the Top 100 in our rankings. He does a good job of firing off the ball latching on quickly and finishing plays by keeping his feet driving through the whistle. This young man has power to him as he gets hands inside with his quick initial punch before he drives the defensive lineman back 5+ yards downfield. He's also able to get to 2nd level blocks cutting off linebacker flow and can wash the defensive lineman down both of which create a running lane for his ball carrier. What's I'm most interested to see out of this young man is how his pass protection develops over the course of this off season and what he showcases during his senior season campaign. In my eyes, he's currently a D2/NAIA caliber prospect that has the potential to become an FBS PWO/FCS prospect. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="141088" first="Quincy" last="Hall Jr"] Twitter Mr. Hall was a name I was keeping an eye on this season as he's the second standout receiver on his team playing alongside [player_tooltip player_id="103372" first="Allen" last="Middleton"] on his team. Upon analyzing his full season highlights it's evident that he deserved a bump in our rankings. He's projected to primarily play the X receiver at the next level but can also get it done as a Z if you have a one-two punch in your receiving core as Mascoutah has in their receivers. I would be interested to see how he would fair lining up in the slot in certain packages to get the mismatch against the linebacker. He's an outside receiver that's quick off the line of scrimmage where he uses his step advantage to stack defenders before breaking them off at the top of the route creating separation on the play. He attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with contested catches and can make the catch in traffic. Both of which he gets vertical quickly upon securing the catch. If you give this young man a free release he can easily win over the top with his speed and if you decide to try to influence his release he showcased glimpses of his ability to beat the press with fast feet at the line of scrimmage. In the run game he doesn't take plays off, rather he stalks blocks downfield where he'll get hands inside and drive the defensive back downfield through the whistle. I believe he can also be utilized in the return game to further showcase his abilities - changing gears quickly upon securing the ball. In my eyes, he has the potential to become an FBS PWO/FCS caliber prospect and is currently sitting as a D2/NAIA prospect. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="158054" first="Anthony" last="Birsa"] Twitter Mr. Birsa was a name that I had on my radar heading into this fall season and one that has made his mark this season increasing his stock. I had the chance to scout this young man in person once during the regular season and once more during the IHSA 4A State Championship game, both of which he was impressive. Upon seeing him in person and analyzing his full season highlights he earned a bump in our rankings. He's projected as a run blocking offensive tackle as his base skill set leans more towards that and he plays in a predominately run heavy offense. I do believe he can become a balanced offensive tackle at the next level as he showcased glimpses of his ability to anchor in pass protection and latch on limiting the effect of the edge pass rush. With that being said, he does a good job firing off the ball and latching on quickly getting inside hand placement. Once he does, he finishes plays by keeping his feet driving through the whistle and showcases his power by driving the defensive lineman back 5+ yards downfield. When pulling, he gets out of his stance quickly to kick out the defensive end as well as pick up the defensive back playing the alley and can seal the outside linebacker. He can wash the defensive lineman down and get to 2nd level blocks cutting off linebacker flow. This young man's aggressiveness is what you love to see out of offensive lineman and he has that edge to him when he's in the trenches. In my eyes, he has the potential to become an FBS caliber prospect and is currently sitting as an FCS prospect. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="158649" first="Lynel" last="Billups-Williams"] Twitter Mr. Billups-Williams is a name that I had on my radar coming into this fall season. I got the chance to see this young man in person during the fall regular season where he was able to countlessly utilize his playmaking abilities to make something out of nothing. Upon seeing him in person and analyzing his full season highlights he rose his stock in our rankings. He's projected as your prototypical slot receiver at the next level that creates a big mismatch against linebackers and at times can work as a Z receiver if need be. He currently is utilized in the slot, as a Z, and as an X receiver in his offense. He's quick off the line of scrimmage where he can stack the defender with ease and can break him off at the top of the route creating separation on the play where he gets in and out of his breaks quickly. This young man can attack the ball at the highest point to come away with contested catches and can make the catch in traffic. He also understands spacing as he can find the soft spot in zone coverage where he'll sit to become an outlet for his quarterback. Upon securing the catch, he gets vertical quickly and showcases his elusiveness by making the first defender miss in open space. If you give him a free release he uses his next level gear and ability to change gears quickly to win over the top on deep shots downfield. In the return game, he weaves in and out of defenders setting his team up in good starting field position as well as has the ability to return them for touchdowns. In my eyes, he has the potential to become an FBS PWO/FCS caliber prospect heading into this upcoming fall season as he has room to add to his frame without losing a step and is currently sitting as a D2/NAIA prospect. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="158588" first="Anthony" last="Picciolini"] Twitter Mr. Picciolini was a name I was keeping an eye on heading into this season as he has taken over the role as the starting quarterback for his team this fall. Upon analyzing his full season highlights it's clear that you see his progression from the season before and that he rose his stock. He's projected as a pro style quarterback at the next level that can, if need be, pull the ball down to scramble for a few yards if nobody is open downfield. This young man has a good foundation for working in platform as well as out of platform causing him to be a threat even if he's flushed out of the pocket. When working in platform, he stays in the pocket as it's collapsing to get the ball off under pressure and adds a touch on the deep ball. When working out of platform, he can escape the pocket and makes the throw on the run with his upper/lower half working in unison as he keeps his eyes downfield to keep the chains moving. One skill set to keep an eye on moving forward is how his young man can add easy velocity across all level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3). Specifically, his ability to add a touch on the level 2 throw moving forward where he'll put the ball in the soft spot between the safety and linebacker. This adds extra pressure on the opposing defense's linebackers as they have to be wary when running zone coverage of getting to their proper depth. In my eyes, he has the potential to become an FBS PWO/FCS caliber prospect with the good frame that he has as well as the good foundation he has set. Currently, he's a D2/NAIA prospect. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="153515" first="Nick" last="Golden"] Twitter Mr. Golden was a name that I heard about heading into this fall season and he had himself a few standout performances for his team being a stat sheet stuffer. Upon analyzing his full season highlights there's no doubt that he rose his stock and is getting a bump in our rankings. He's projected as a Sam linebacker at the next level that can work stacked as well as lined up on the line of scrimmage. His versatility allows him to line up across the line of scrimmage working as an edge as well as a 1 tech and 3 tech at times on running downs. I could see him being utilized in multiple situational packages where he'll work as an edge on passing downs to generate pressure on the quarterback and working as a 7 tech on certain close yardage downs to utilize his run stopping skill set. Speaking of which, this young man triggers downhill quickly in close space where he can meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage for no gain on the play. He has the ability shoot gaps and slip blocks by using his hands at the point of attack to disrupt plays in the backfield and blow up plays in the process. This young man can work gap to gap and holds gap control to remain gap sound as he fights against down blocks. In his pass rush, he's a force to be reckoned with both when he comes on a blitz and when working as an edge. Both of which, he uses his quick first step to close space between him and the offensive tackle before batting hands down to turn the corner generating pressure on the quarterback. At times, when he's coming off an edge blitz he's able to come away with the quarterback sack where he delivers a forceful hit. This young man still has room to add his frame and I believe he has untapped potential yet to come to light. In my eyes, he has the potential to become an FBS PWO/FCS caliber prospect with his versatility and untapped potential. He's currently sitting as a D2/NAIA caliber prospect. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="145473" first="Andrew" last="Zook"] Twitter Mr. Zook was a name I was keeping an eye on this season as his one part of the dominant defensive line for his team. Upon analyzing his full season highlights this young man rose his stock and earned himself a bump in our rankings. He's projected as an interior lineman at the next level that can get it done as both a 1 tech as well as a 3 tech. I believe he would be able to hold his own as a 2 tech and as a 4i tech as well. This is only the beginning for this young man as he has room to add to his frame and still has room to develop his skill set further. He has a good foundation for stopping the run and can generate pressure on the quarterback on passing downs. Speaking of his pass rush skill set, I believe he has room to hone that skill set further and once he does he's going to become even more of a problem for opposing offenses. In run support, he works gap to gap where he disengages blocks to make the tackle at/near the line of scrimmage for no/little gain on the play. He does a good job of shooting gaps and slipping blocks to disrupt plays in the backfield off the penetration he generates as well as blow up plays for tackles for loss. This all happens by him utilizing his quick first step and using his hands at the point of attack to shed blocks. On passing downs, he showcases his power by driving the offensive lineman back into the quarterback pocket generating pressure on the play and collapsing the pocket. I would be interested to see him working as an edge on certain packages at the next level on passing downs if there's a better matchup there than working against the interior offensive lineman as I believe this young man would be able to hold his own. In my eyes, he has the potential to become an FBS PWO/FCS caliber prospect with his room to add to his good foundational skill set and add to his frame. Currently, he's sitting as a D2/NAIA caliber prospect. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="130444" first="Cole" last="Teschner"] Twitter Mr. Teschner was a name I was keeping an eye on heading into this fall season and a young man that has untapped potential yet to come to light. Upon analyzing his full season highlights it's evident he earned himself a bump in our rankings and deserves the recognition. He's projected as a pro style quarterback at the next level that can, if need be, pull the ball down to scramble to gain a few yards on the play. This young man has one of the quicker releases that I've seen out of the thousands of prospects that I've analyzed over the last few months which is impressive. When he's working in platform, he's able to get the ball off under pressure and add a touch on the deep ball. When he's working out of platform, he keeps his eyes downfield and delivers a strike downfield as his upper/lower half work in unison. What's most impressive is his ability to add easy velocity across all level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3). Specifically, his ability to add a touch on level 2 throws where puts the ball in the soft spot between the safety and linebacker when they play zone coverage. His ability to get the ball out quickly is further showcased when he runs RPOs getting a bigger insight into his quick release. This young man's arm strength is one to keep an eye on heading into his senior season campaign as he can deliver bombs downfield. In my eyes, he has the potential to become an FBS PWO/FCS caliber prospect as he has room to add to his frame and already has a good foundational skill set. Currently, he's sitting as a D2/NAIA caliber prospect. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="158047" first="Justin" last="Bonsu"] Twitter Mr. Bonsu is a name I had on my radar heading into this season and is the only one on this list that didn't get much playing time during his junior season campaign. So, you might be wondering why he's a stock riser? Well, it's simple. With [player_tooltip player_id="20875" first="Jordan" last="Anderson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="65721" first="Vinny" last="Iannantone"] heading to the next level there's an opening to be a lead back for Joliet Catholic Academy's dominant run heavy offense. I believe this young man is going to take the primary position over and once he does he's going to make a name for himself. He's projected as a three down power back at the next level and I believe he's going to showcase just that during his senior season campaign. With his limited film this season, he showcases the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles as he burst through the line of scrimmage and keeps his feet driving breaking weak arm tackles in the process. This young man is in a select group of student athletes in his class that has such a high ceiling heading into this fall season. Back when he was playing on JV was when he first came onto my radar where he was dominating his competition at that level. We still have to see how he'll produce with a full season work under his belt as well as being utilized as a primary back. With that being said, I believe he's going to turn people's eyes and make his mark. In my eyes, he has the potential to become an FBS PWO/FCS caliber prospect once it's all said and done. I look forward to seeing him make his mark. Highlights
Be sure to follow @PRZJordan regarding news & information for Illinois High School Football as well as @PrepRedzoneIL. Want to be ranked?
