The 2023 class is starting to look pretty deep across the offensive line, and there are quite a few from small-towns that college programs need to know about.
Here are a few small-town offensive linemen in the 2023 class who could see their stock rise on the recruiting trail over the next few months…
Johnny Williams Johnny Williams 6'6" | 285 lbs | OL Northeast | 2023 State GA IV – Northeast
If there’s another SEC-caliber offensive lineman in Middle Georgia, it’s the big tackle from Macon. A great-looking prospect with height and length at. 6-foot-6 290-pounds, the Northeast standout already looks like an SEC tackle. He shows above-average footwork and balance, and proved last year as a sophomore that he has the ability to protect the passer. He can overpower smaller defenders in the run game, but his length raw potential have college coaches drooling. He plays with a mean streak, blocks until the whistle, and can really intimidate his opponent. Williams holds other offers from Georgia, Oregon, FSU, Virginia, and Arizona State.
Kyle Mixon Kyle Mixon 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Northside | 2023 GA – Northside
Another Middle Georgia standout, the Warner Robins native may be under the radar now, but it might not be that way for long. Mixon is a solid 6-foot-5 290-pounds and still has room to put on muscle. He’s quick-footed and plays with good balance and body control. He moves well for his size and has the potential to have a breakout junior year this fall. He’s still developing as a tackle, but his size and potential should make him a lineman to know in the area this fall.
One of the top overall centers in West Georgia, Fenimore is a multi-year starter with an old-school way on blocking. He’s smart, tough, physical, and moves really well for someone his size. He has great lower body strength, plays with a strong base, and has really become a leader on the team. He holds the school shot-put record with a 55’7 throw. He’s violent in the run game, finishes blocks well, and shows an outstanding work ethic and knowledge of the game. As a junior, Fenimore helped lead an outstanding offensive line to a 10-2 season and helped block for senior Jayden Bolton who rushed for close to 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns. Look for the Indians who have another stout offensive line and offense overall in 2021, which could lead to some D1 interest for Fenimore.
Devin McRae – Telfair County
In small-town McRae is where you’ll find one of the hard-working linemen in South Georgia. The big 6-foot-3 265-pounder isn’t a giant, but he’s big and strong enough to bully and dominate his opponent on a consistent basis. He shows impressive athleticism for his size and will be asked to play on both sides of the line this fall. He’s quick, plays with a strong base, and has his best football ahead of him. He’s earned some offers recently from Arkansas, Middle Tennessee State, and Georgia State, with more D1 offers likely to come his way. The staff at Telfair County expects him to make a big jump physically this season as he’s really improved his strength and athleticism. They told Prep Redzone that his biggest strength is his willingness to do what needs to be done to be successful. He is not afraid to push himself and he should have a major impact for the team as a junior this fall.
