With the 2022 Rankings dropping recently, we take a look at a few players at the quarterback position who jumped a few spots thanks to their play on the field! The seniors led their teams to winning records and put up some very good numbers in the process. To check out the full updated rankings list, Click Here Bert Emanuel Jr. - Ridge Point 6’2" - 195 lbs This name should come as no surprise with the season Emanuel Jr. had. Multiple Player of the Week awards, unanimous district MVP, and an 11-2 record. Emanuel constantly showed on the field that he was that guy. He controlled the offense flawlessly, and his arm talent was put on display as well. Emanuel threw for 31 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Zero. He took care of the ball and showed his athleticism as well, running for 1,030 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was a star his senior year, a true QB1 who proved to be a competitor until the end. Emanuel currently holds 3 offers but will be a steal for any program. The talent is there, and all he needs is that opportunity. Emanuel is a player who will bring his winning ways with him. [player_tooltip player_id="125230" first="Kevin" last="Henry-Jennings"] - South Oak Cliff 6’1" - 180 lbs State Champion quarterback Henry-Jennings made a jump in the rankings with his ability to improvise and make things happen in and out of the pocket. Henry-Jennings has a strong arm that zips the ball out in a hurry with much velocity. He is able to get the ball to his playmakers quick which was a big part of South Oak Cliff’s winning ways this season. He showed great accuracy, even in distress and made pinpoint throws. On the year Henry-Jennings threw for 3,028 yards, with 39 passing touchdowns and also ran for 316 yards with 7 touchdowns. The SMU signee showed that he has what it takes to be a successful quarterback and trusting the process led to big things. Excellent year from both he and the Bears. [player_tooltip player_id="251888" first="Jake" last="Wright"] - St. Thomas Catholic 6’0" - 190 lbs Wright made an appearance in the rankings this season due to his accuracy and efficiency. His ball down the seams and deep throw accuracy stood out. Wright had a completion rate of 72% and threw for 3,750 yards with 43 touchdowns an 1 interception. He was lethal in the pocket and with time, he dissected secondaries. Wright showed that he can fit the ball into tight windows with great zip and put the ball only where his guy could get it. [player_tooltip player_id="251889" first="Andrew" last="Martinez"] - Eastwood 6’0" - 175 lbs Martinez led the entire state in passing yards and it was no fluke. He is a legit gunslinger who possesses great playmaking skills. Martinez threw for an incredible 4,089 yards with 40 touchdowns and also showed his wheels with 770 rushing yards with 15 touchdowns. He did everything he could to bring home a W for his team every game. Martinez showed a good touch on his ball and hit his receivers in stride, even under pressure. He may not be known by many but he drew eyes for his senior season and deserved the jump in the rankings. [player_tooltip player_id="252401" first="Cale" last="Hellums"] - Tomball 5’11" - 185 lbs The Army commit put the state on notice during his incredible playoff run. Time after time we saw Hellums make a momentum shifting play that put his team in prime position to win. He is what we call an ultimate competitor who only got better as the game went on. Hellums finished his senior season with 1,950 passing yards along with 22 passing touchdowns, but did his damage in the run game with 1,828 yards on the ground with 17 touchdowns. He helped lead his team to a semifinals appearance and he never quit. The Black Knights have a good player coming in.
