Here, we take a look at some intriguing 2022 prospects in Georgia that have yet to put the pen to paper.
Mason Cooper | OL | 6’2 | South Forsyth
Cooper has racked up numerous offers in the last month alone, including some at the D1 level. Still, he remains unsigned as we move past the early signing period. One thing you notice about Cooper on film is his versatility. Most of his action is at tackle, but he can be seen lining up at guard on occasion as well. At 6’2 260 plus his playstyle, his future at the collegiate level might be at guard. He is truly a “mauler” style blocker, he uses his brute strength and effort to force defenders out of the play and carve open holes. With the amount of traction he is getting on the trail, Cooper is someone to watch over the next two months.
Colin Jackson | EDGE | 6’4 | Miller County
Jackson is coming off a huge senior year, where he blew up both on the field and on the recruiting trail. Jackson finished with 8.5 sacks this season, which landed him defensive player of the year honors in his region. He was also named to the all-region 1st team. Jackson’s future might be coming off the edge. At 6’2 232, Jackson already has college-ready size. He is explosive around the edge and plays within himself. Once he gets his hands on a ball carrier, there is no getting away. Jackson has several offers at this point, including numerous from the D1 level.
Mason Humphries | WR | 6’4 | Grayson
From a tools standpoint, Humphries was one of the best WRs in the entire state this season. At 6’4 190, Humphries uses his body to go up over defenders and make plays in traffic. What really separates him is his speed and quickness. He is very twitchy at the line of scrimmage, which allows him to create some space. He also has enough straight-line speed to get open and run away from the rest of the defense. Humphries has continued to show improvement over the course of the year, and is a guy who could explode on the recruiting trail as we head into the February signing period.
Ashlynd Baker | CB | 6’3 | Northside
Longer CBs are becoming more and more relevant in today’s football. For that reason alone, Baker should be on the radar for many programs across all levels of football. Pair that with his athleticism, and you have a prospect worth taking a look at. Baker is also a standout on the basketball court, and you can see that translate to the gridiron. He uses his agility to rise up over WRs to make plays, and uses his speed and explosiveness to track down ball carriers and lock up defenders. Baker has received several offers already, so there will be plenty of eyes on him until he signs.
Tylan Johnson | RB | 5’10 | Johns Creek
Johnson was as prolific of an RB as they come in this state. The Johns Creek standout put together more than 1600 all-purpose yards and 14 total TDs. On film, Johnson is a truly an every-down back. He has nice hands out of the backfield, fights for extra yards, has make-miss ability, and the list goes on and on. His monster season has resulted in landing some offers, including some at the D1 level. Still, he is still fairly under the radar for an RB with his kind of numbers and film. Whoever lands his signature might be landing a diamond in the rough.
