For some, they have been swimming in offers and will have a wide variety of schools to choose from. For some, they have potentially slipped through the cracks and will have fewer options. Regardless, these players will get to celebrate their accomplishments with their loved ones tomorrow. Here, we take a look at some of the more low-key uncommitted QBs in the Metro-Atlanta area.
Robbie Roper Robbie Roper 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Roswell | 2022 State GA | 6’4 | Roswell
Roper has numerous division 1 offers, and his recruitment is starting to pick up here as the 2022 class is coming to a close. Still, Roper has a great frame and threw for over 3000 yards and added 37 TDs. So one must wonder, why did it take so long for schools to get after him? On film, Roper shows a lot of toughness. He frequently stands in and sacrifices his own body to make the throws needed. Perhaps his most impressive trait is his pocket prescience. He stands tall in the pocket, and when the protection breaks down he can move the pocket and extend plays. When he has to scramble, he scrambles to pass. He keeps his eyes downfield looking for the open man, and usually finds it. Whether he comes to a decision tomorrow or not, Roper absolutely has a future in CFB.
David Renard David Renard 6'1" | 165 lbs | QB Flowery Branch | 2022 State GA | 6’1 | Flowery Branch
Renard has a handful of offers, which is expected of someone with as decorated of an HS career as him. In three years, Renard threw for over 4500 yards and added 38 TDs. He is also a big-time runner. On film, Renard is certainly a prototypical scrambling QB. He is super quick and twitchy, almost the way a skill position player would be. Whether it is on designed QB runs or scrambles, he is a big-play threat with the ball in space. When he does throw the ball, it flies out of his hands, and he can naturally throw the ball on the run with ease. A player with as decorated of an HS career as Renard paired with all his tools is sure to land somewhere.
Lonnie Ratliff | 6’1 | Duluth
Ratliff finished 4th in passing in 7A this year with 3148 yards. What is even more impressive is that he finished 2nd All-Time in career passing yards in Gwinnett County. Ratliff is a gamer. He can keep plays alive with his legs, but he can also make plays with his legs. He is very smart with the football, he never puts it in harm’s way and knows when to tuck it and run to get the first down. In short, he can hurt you in a lot of ways. Ratliff had one heck of a high school career, and that will launch him into a spot on a collegiate roster. The question is, where?
Christion Lane | 6’0 | Warner Robins
For a QB who threw for over 2300 yards and 29 TDs while also winning a state title, Lane is about as underrated as it gets. On film, there is plenty to like about Lane. First off, he makes good decisions with the ball. This can be backed up with a 29-4 TD-INT ratio. As a runner, he is not super speedy, but he is physical and tough to bring down. Lane is so under the radar that it is difficult to see how highly recruited he is, but based on his resume, I am going to go out on a limb and assume he will get a shot at the next level.
Brayden Mauldin | 6’3 | Paulding County
He is worth a spot on a college roster based on his tools alone. He already has super impressive size, but he makes some great plays on film too. He stands tall in the face of pressure and delivers some throws into tight windows. Most impressively, he puts some nice touch on the deep ball. There is not a throw on the field that he can not make, and he is still growing as a QB. Mauldin finished 6th in 6A with 2643 yards. When you have a QB with all of his tools and 3 years of starting experience, it is hard to bat an eye away from him. He has numerous offers, so expect Mauldin to come to a decision on his recruitment soon.
