With the December 15th early signing period in the rearview mirror, there are still a ton of talented athletes still looking for their home at the college level. That brings us to today’s article. I want to go through each position group and identify the top available player at each position, and give a quick analysis of their film as well as look at their current recruiting activity. After I do that with the top available player at each position, I will also include a second top player that college coaches should also check out! So in the end there will be 18 names that need to be on the radars of college coaches! Let’s get it started!
[player_tooltip player_id="118301" first="Sam" last="Dodd"] 6’3" 200 lbs, QB- Hortonville (Sam’s Senior Highlights)
I have written about the Hortonville signal caller several times over the past couple seasons, and as we enter the post-early signing day period Sam has found himself as the top available QB in the state based off our current rankings. Dodd has the frame, arm talent, athleticism, and football intelligence to succeed at the next level. You won’t find a QB that checks off more boxes than Sam in the remaining pool of uncommitted senior talent. His current recruitment includes offers from Winona State, Bemidji State, and Concordia- St. Paul. He also has seen some interest from the FCS level. He has camped and visited multiple FCS schools out in the Dakotas, and most recently was at NDSU over the Halloween weekend. If you’re a college program looking for a 2022 QB it starts right here in WI! Another QB to Know: [player_tooltip player_id="31240" first="Quentin" last="Keene"], Waunakee
[player_tooltip player_id="31227" first="Obacoso" last="Allen"] 5’10" 180 lbs, RB- Catholic Memorial
The top available senior RB in the state is the exciting playmaker out of Catholic Memorial. Obacoso has the size to be able to handle a large workload at the next level, and he also has the explosive athleticism to also be effective in a change of pace role. His vision allows him to see lanes and blocks developing, and he has a knack for knowing where the green grass is. Because of that innate ability, Allen has been able to consistently create big plays because his acceleration and top end speed allow him to maximize the green grass he finds. On the recruiting side of things, Allen visited Saint Xavier in early September with several teammates along with receiving interest from the Badgers and Eastern Michigan throughout the season. I don’t see anything as far as offers, so Obacoso is turning into a big time potential steal for a program. He needs to be on more radars at this point of the year! Another RB to Know: [player_tooltip player_id="118349" first="Nigel" last="Cheeks"], Whitefish Bay
[player_tooltip player_id="118469" first="Carson" last="Sippel"] 6’1" 180 lbs, WR- Kaukauna (Carson’s Senior Highlights)
The top uncommitted WR also looks poised to become our WR1 when our rankings update debuts. Sippel has gone off this past year. It started back at the Prep Redzone WI Spring Showcase where he dominated the testing portion with 4.44 speed and 10’8" broad jumps. Then when the season came around he proved he wasn’t just a raw athlete, but instead a polished route runner with natural hands who could take the top off the defense or create separation on short routes and turn them into big plays. Carson is one of the state’s most dangerous players with the ball in his hands and the next level started to realize that as Carson earned offers from University of Northern Iowa, Central Michigan, and Valporaiso since the 2021 season began. During the summer he also earned multiple D2 offers. Carson is the cream of the crop in a very talented WR group. Another WR to Know: Quinton Henry Jr., Kenosha Bradford
[player_tooltip player_id="31228" first="Angel" last="Toombs"] 6’5" 230 lbs, TE- Rufus King (Angel’s Senior Highlights)
Maybe this big man out of Milwaukee should be in the ATH section because he not only played TE, but also OLB for Rufus King. However, I believe he best fits at the next level using his massive frame to wall off defenders as he hauls in passes up the seam or down the sideline. Angel possesses natural hands that pluck the ball out of the air away from his body. I also trust Toombs as a blocker in the run game allowing him to stay on the field in essentially all scenarios. The recruitment of Toombs has been interesting. He has received plenty of interest from the next level, but I’m not seeing any official offers. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this change soon or see Angel decide to go the JUCO route. Either way he is a name to know as we enter the post-early signing day period if teams are looking for a TE. Another TE to Know: [player_tooltip player_id="118350" first="Nolan" last="Hawk"], DeForest
[player_tooltip player_id="31199" first="Carson" last="Hinzman"] 6’5" 280 lbs, OL- Saint Croix Central
This is more of a recruiting update than anything else when it comes to Hinzman. We all know how talented the star lineman is and how heavily recruited he has been by the FBS level. It is reported that Hinzman has narrowed his choices down to the Wisconsin Badgers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. The top 2 recruit in the state would be a huge addition to both recruiting classes, and his future is going to look bright either way as both schools have developed their linemen extremely well. They both have also sent their fair share of linemen to the NFL. I’m excited to see where one of our state’s best athletes decides to take his talents! Another OL to Know: [player_tooltip player_id="31207" first="Nathan" last="Skebba"], Grafton
[player_tooltip player_id="31204" first="Cameron" last="Done"] 6’5" 280 lbs, DL- Rufus King (Cam’s Senior Highlights)
The dominant DL out of Rufus King is one of the top DL prospects in the state, and comes into this point of the recruiting process as the #1 available DL. The big man is a force in the trenches as he resets the line of scrimmage into the backfield by driving his OL backwards. Done has an impressive blend of size, strength, athleticism, and production that should have the attention of the next level. However, I don’t believe he currently holds an offer at this time. He has received attention from the next level, though. On November 7 he was on the Louisville campus for a visit. I’m excited to see how the rest of the recruiting process goes for the three star prospect. Another DL to Know: :[player_tooltip player_id="118250" first="David" last="Nies"]- River Ridge
[player_tooltip player_id="31243" first="Daniel" last="Martens"] 5’11" 190 lbs, DB- Franklin (Daniel’s Senior Highlights)
Martens came into the season as a top 50 senior prospect, but that hasn’t stopped him from rising even further! Daniel’s play skyrocketed as a senior where he showed off the ability to make plays deep in coverage with his vast range, make stops against the run game at the line of scrimmage, and line up on receivers and lock them down. Daniel has a strong frame that will allow him to continue his physical play at the next level. Speaking of the next level, Daniel has seen his recruitment skyrocket with the jump in film. Daniel has received D1 offers in the form of a PWO from Louisville, an offer from Valporaiso, St. Thomas, and Drake since the end of July. Those, along with 5 D2 offers, gives Daniel a lot of options at the next level. He is definitely the top DB available, and schools searching for DBs better jump on him before they miss out! Another DB to Know: [player_tooltip player_id="118370" first="Cody" last="Cotton"], Union Grove
[player_tooltip player_id="118326" first="Bryson" last="Clarson"] 6’3" 220 lbs, LB- New Richmond (Bryson’s Senior Highlights)
Looking for LB help in the state of WI? It starts at New Richmond HS where the 6’3" 220 lbs ILB [player_tooltip player_id="118326" first="Bryson" last="Clarson"] spent the fall roaming the front seven and offensive backfield wrecking havoc. Watching an athlete that is that size move with the fluidity that Bryson moves with is eye catching. He is a sideline to sideline playmaker and even has the first step explosiveness and length to be an effective edge rusher in time. Clarson had a lot of interest over the summer as he attended several FBS and FCS camps and visits, but it doesn’t look like any of those have turned into an offer. Even with the strong fall tape. Clarson is going to be a steal for the next level. You won’t find a more talented available LB in the state. Another LB to Know: [player_tooltip player_id="31241" first="Nicholas" last="Jorndt"], Whitefish Bay
[player_tooltip player_id="118317" first="Joe" last="Ollman"] 6’2" 210 lbs, ATH- Homestead (Joe’s Senior Highlights)
The Homestead playmaker comes in as the top ATH mainly because of how his recruitment has gone. Joe was a dominant force at the RB position throughout his HS career, which earned him the RB2 ranking in our current rankings. His blend of size, speed, power, and instincts for the position are tough to beat. However, Ollman also has the frame, and long arms, to go along with those traits that could also make him a viable option as an LB at the next level. His PWO offer from SDSU labeled him as an LB, while some of his offers from the D2 level are interested in him as an RB. Big things are ahead for the athlete out of Homestead no matter which side of the ball he plays on. Don’t miss out. Another ATH to Know: [player_tooltip player_id="118306" first="Michael" last="Stenbroten"], Lake Mills
