It was a wild weekend of state championship games in Georgia and some of the best QBs across all classifications made sure to step up and play well on the state’s biggest stage. Here are some of the top QB performances from the state championships... [player_tooltip player_id="33930" first="David" last="Dallas"] – QB In his final game as a lion, the senior QB went out with a championship, showing why he’s one of the state’s top senior gunslingers. To open the game, Dallas hit a long bomb to junior playmaker [player_tooltip player_id="34051" first="Aaron" last="Gates"] who took it the distance. He showed poise, toughness, and the ability to come through in big moments all game long. He would hit Gates again on a beautiful touch pass that was reeled in with one hand. Right before the half, Dallas found receiver Javan Harrison in one-on-one coverage on the outside and led him beautifully in the end-zone, giving the Lions a 28-0 lead. with the Wolverines mounting a 3rd-quarter comeback, Dallas showed he can make plays with his feet as well as he scampered and hammered his way in for a 12-yard touchdown, giving Trinity Christian a 49-28 lead. Overall, the Western Michigan commit had one of the games of his life, capping off a tremendous high school career. He id it all on Thursday, and he brought home a state championship. https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469066621302026254?s=20 https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469082592519639048?s=20 https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469102136369815552?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="33893" first="Sam" last="Horn"] – QB - Collins Hill One of the top senior QBs in Georgia, Horn capped off a big senior season with a strong three-touchdown performance in the state championship against a very talented Milton defense. Horn wasn’t perfect, and did throw an INT right before the half, but his played really well overall and pushed the ball down the field. He was accurate, consistent, and showed he can make plays with his feet as well. Horn got the Eagles on the board early with a 10-yard TD pass to running back Spenser Anderson and the Eagles never looked back. The Missouri commitment scrambled for a 6-yard touchdown early in the 2nd half, giving Collins Hill a 14-0 lead. He would then hit [player_tooltip player_id="33861" first="Travis" last="Hunter"] for his second passing touchdown of the day, essentially ending the game. Horn ended the game 22/32 for 243 yards and two passing touchdowns. https://twitter.com/PitViperSports/status/1469884936685555719?s=20 https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469865431502663683?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="33932" first="Holden" last="Geriner"] - QB - Benedictine One of the top QBs to come out of the Savannah area in quite some time, the big-armed, accurate QB at 6-foot-3 210-pounds was excellent all game, leading Benedictine to a hard-fought 35-28 victory. He showed great pocket awareness, arm strength, and efficiency, going 24/30 with 397 yards and 4 touchdown passes. The Auburn Tiger commitment distributed the ball well down the field and consistently found a way to find targets down the field. He moves well and showed athleticism in the pocket as well, buying time and showing why he’s one of the state’s best. He played a near perfect game in the state championship victory. https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469438118604464135?s=20 https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469442882197196805?s=20 https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469415707951697925?s=20 Jamar Graham - Cedar Grove An outstanding young QB in the Atlanta area, the sophomore showed off a big arm and the ability to sling the ball deep. He made some key throws deep down the field in the first half, tossing three touchdowns, one of them being a big 80-yard TD pass that Graham threw beautifully deep down the field. He has a great arm for someone his age and he pulled off some high-caliber throws in the biggest moments. After a slow start to the game, Graham threw them back in it and led the Saints to a 56-26 victory. Graham could not have played better, going 22/35 for 352 yards and 5 TD. He was named player of the game and it was well deserved. https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469725131295670275?s=20 https://twitter.com/GPBsports/status/1469763280067600397?s=20
