Top Offensive Performers: CIF Division 2-AA Championship

<em>Mater Dei Catholic finished off an undefeated 13-0 season on Friday with a 34-25 victory over Central Catholic in the CIF Division 2-AA state championship. The Crusaders were led by a talented core of juniors that produced explosive plays from the first play. Below are the top performers from the championship game: </em> <b>[player_tooltip player_id="145214" first="Dominic" last="Nankil"]- QB, 2023, Mater Dei Catholic</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Nankil has shown steady improvement throughout his junior season guiding MDC to the state title. He looked comfortable and confident in the pocket throwing for 297 yards and a TD. He’s a QB with underrated arm talent that can stretch defenses vertically and shows consistent accuracy on his intermediate-deep throws. He’s a smooth athlete who creates separation in his routes and finishes with elite ball skills. He challenges DBs downfield with explosive burst at the LOS and D-I speed over the top. McClure has offers from Michigan, Arizona, and USC setting him up as one of the top WRs in the state heading into next season. </span> <b>Nico Mosley- RB, 2023, Mater Dei Catholic</b> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Mosley led MDC’s ground game with 3 rushing TDs behind a strong performance from the OL unit. He’s a smaller, more agile back with great speed and athleticism. He gets outside the tackles quickly and is a difficult player to tackle in space. Taylor is a bruising back at 5’11” 205 lbs., who runs with power and balance. He hits the hole hard and has deceptive speed and burst in space. Taylor was a near 2,000 yard rusher on the season with 36 TDs on the ground. </span> <b>Julian Lopez- RB, 2022, Central Catholic</b> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Lopez is another bruising back who rushed for over 100 yards and 2 TDs in the championship game. He’s a punishing runner between the tackles that can physically dominate defenses with size and power. He and Taylor led one of the most effective rushing attacks in the state this season.</span>
