Of course, there are many talented QBs who are coming off big junior seasons this past fall, and a lot of them play their ball in Gwinnett County, one of the most talented areas for high school football across the country.
Here are some standout 2023 QBs from Gwinnett County…
Dylan Lonergan Dylan Lonergan 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Brookwood | 2023 State GA – Brookwood
One of the top 2023 QBs across the country, the big two-sport star has one of the strongest arms you’ll find in the entire class and proved it this past fall, leading the 2023 class in Georgia in passing yards with 3,392 yards through the air. He’s mobile enough to make plays with his feet, but his arm talent is what has led to offers from Ohio State, Stanford, Georgia, among others. He throws with anticipation, he’s consistently accurate, and can push the ball deep down the field. Not only did he throw for a ton of yards, but he also tossed 32 TD passes, leading the Broncos to another deep playoff run.
A breakout 2023 QB in the Atlanta area, the Sandy Creek star is lightning quick when he runs with the ball, but his live arm and ability to make big throws in tight windows helped him have a giant year this past fall. A WR/DB prospect at the next level due to his quickness and athleticism, Latimer has proved he can win games with his arm, throwing for 2,792 yards and 30 TDs. He hits his receivers in stride and can heave the ball deep when he sees someone open deep down the field.
QB RJ Johnson – Westlake
Another big-armed QB from the Atlanta area, the big 6-foot-2 200-pound junior loves to sling it around the field and has been a multi-year starter for the Lions. As a junior, Johnson threw for 2,673 yards and 25 TDs to just 4 INTs. He’s grown into an excellent passer and distributor, making the right choice all season. He took care of the football, didn’t turn it over, and beat some really talented defenses throughout the season. The Lions had a big season once again, and Johnson was a big reason why. If he continues to develop and progress in the off-season, Johnson could be one of the state’s leading passers as a senior next fall.
One of the bigger QBs across the state, Grant is a large 6-foot-4 240-pounder with a strong arm who loves to chuck the ball deep. He’s tough to handle and bring down as a runner, but he was able to show off a big arm as well. He’s one of the top breakout 2023 QBs in the area, throwing for an impressive 2,500 yards and 30 TDs. In an era where it’s tough to make big throws down the field, Grant made the throws consistently last year as a junior.
Keegan Stover – West Forsyth
Up in Forsyth County is where you’ll find another impressive 2023 QB in Stover. A multi-year starter with size at 6-foot-3 215-pounds, Stover took a big step forward as a junior and had some really impressive games. Like Johnson, he took great care of the football this past fall, throwing for 25 TDs and just three INTs. He moves well in the pocket, keeps his eyes down the field, and consistently made plays with his arm. He’s getting better and better, and many expect him to have a monster senior season in his third year as a starter.
