As the California football season enters into the final weekend, many state championships across multiple divisions will be played and there are some key players to watch across Southern California. Below, we will name and breakdown some of the players that are worth watching as they lead their team to a potential state title.

LB, [player_tooltip player_id="25447" first="Levi" last="Sua"], Mater Dei
Mater Dei’s defense is led by its supremely talented edge rushers [player_tooltip player_id="25234" first="David" last="Bailey"] and [player_tooltip player_id="195568" first="Tanner" last="Williams"], but its inside linebackers so a great job stuffing the run game. [player_tooltip player_id="25282" first="Malaki" last="Te’o"] and Sua clean up everything in the run game and can rush the passer as well. Mater Dei has the best defense I have seen in years and it held Servite to under 150 yards of offense. Sua has 31 tackles, 6 for a loss and a handful of pass deflections this season. He has offers from Tennessee, Texas, Arizona and Nebraska among others.

WR, Conor Lawler, Scripps Ranch
Conor Lawlor is one of the best deep threat receivers in the San Diego area. He is lengthy at 6-foot-2 and has track level speed. He is best against man coverage but can be effective in zone defenses as well. Lawlor also can make a big play after the catch on a tunnel screen. He is well over 1,000 yards receiving this year and just got his first offer from the University of San Diego this week.

DB, Maxwell Joseph, Aquinas
Joseph has quietly been one of the best safeties in the San Bernardino region this season. Aquinas uses various coverages, all with two high safeties and Joseph is one of those safeties. He has good instincts in the passing game and can fly up and stop the run. I am curious to see how he would fare in a single-high safety scheme but judging by his film I think he could excel in it. He has a team-high five interceptions this season and has forced two fumbles.

LB, Aiden Agnor, Quartz Hill
Agnor plays middle linebacker for Quartz Hill and when you watch his film, you see he can excel against a variety of offenses. He is aggressive in stopping the run and because he flies up the field, guards trying to block him after a combo block miss him. He also can rush the passer very effectively. Quartz Hill played a Wing-T team in Palo Verde in the Regional Championships and Agnor racked up 17 tackles.

ATH, [player_tooltip player_id="25318" first="Arlis" last="Boardingham"], Birmingham
Boardingham is the best overall player in the LA City Section and it is fitting that he and his Birmingham teammates are the last team standing in the City Section. He is 6-foot-5, 225 pounds and looks like he is playing against junior varsity players most of the time. He overpowers people and can make big plays after the catch. He can return kicks, rush the passer, tackle anybody and play sideline-to-sideline.
