Buxton is one of the more promising sophomores in San Diego County and he made a huge play in the Regional Championship game against Helix. He had the interception that set up the game-winning 80-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

<strong>Timothy Jackson, Birmingham, 2022</strong>
Jackson had a crucial interception for Birmingham in a 42-35 win over Patrick Henry. The interception came with two minutes remaining in the game and helped clinch the win for the Patriots. It was his eighth interception of the season.

<strong>Jalen Johnson, Long Beach Poly, 2022</strong>
Johnson was a team captain for Poly this season and played well on defense throughout the entire year. He is a versatile player that can play linebacker or safety at the next level depending on the scheme. He had two tackles for a loss and a sack in a loss against Serra in the Regional Championships.

<strong>Tano Letuli, Cathedral Catholic, 2022</strong>
I know it is surprising to see a defensive player of the week come in a game that had over 130 points scored, but Letuli made big plays when it mattered. The senior had three sacks including a crucial safety in the third quarter.

<strong>Lewis Madrigal, Northview, 2022</strong>
After the first quarter, Northview's defense had an excellent game against a big play Colony team. They held Colony to just six points after the first quarter and rallied to win 27-26. Madrigal paced the Vikings defense with 7 tackles and a sack.
