Southern California Top Defensive Performances: Championships

<strong>D’Angelo Davis, Serra, 2023</strong> Serra shut down a very good Apple Valley offense en route to a Southern Section Division 3 championship. Davis led the Cavaliers’ defense with 10 tackles and three sacks. It was by far the best game of the season for Davis and he got hot at the right time. University City has a good dual threat quarterback in [player_tooltip player_id="2472" first="Samuel" last="Cooper"] IV and Davis was able to neutralize him. Kensinger was instrumental in stopping that running game. He led Venice with 12 tackles and also had three pass deflections. He was in the backfield on nearly every play in the Division 1 championship game against Servite. Williams had a game-high seven tackles with four for a loss and two sacks. He and [player_tooltip player_id="25234" first="David" last="Bailey"] are an elite pass rushing duo and one of the best I’ve ever seen at the high school level.
