With off season camps, combines, and national 7on7 tournaments around the corner top players throughout the state are jumping at the opportunity to showcase their talent. QB Lab is a quarterback training program in the Washington, DC/ Prince George’s County area, producing some of the state’s leading QB’s. In 2021 Lab7v7 traveled to Houston, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, and Las Vegas, Nevada to compete against top recruits at Pylon tournaments around the nation. Last year they featured current University of Buffalo QB Brian Plummer, let’s take a look and see who stood out at this year’s showcase.

Tabe impressed at this showcase, putting himself and Springbrook High on the radar. He displayed good explosiveness, violent feet off the line and in and out of his breaks. He drops his hips with force allowing him to propel into his next movement and create sharp routes. Consistent pass catcher; maybe had 1 drop during indy drills.

Anderson is very consistent and accurate. During the target practice drill he was one of the few QB’s getting the ball inside the net. Clean throwing form, you can tell that he’s been polished in his fundamentals. In 3on3’s (half field) his ball placement and decision making were clean. I liked that he remained consistent while loose and having fun.

Edwards was a bit above the rest of the group athletically. He can run routes and move just as violently as the smaller guys buy has the strength to bump with the bigger skill position players. He got reps on both sides of the ball and won his reps showing his versatility. Good fakes within his routes cause defenders to break on and turn and run in the wrong direction. Good concentration on the ball always making a second effort to secure a catch or deflect a pass. On defense he’s aggressive put patient. He gets hands on at the line and uses nice technique to maintain leverage while defending receivers. Standout attributes for Edwards are change of direction and good hips.

Savan Briggs | 2023 QB | Quince Orchard

Briggs displayed fluent technique and remained calm and collected through his release. Another one of the few QB’s who were accurate in net target practice drill. Very little correction needed during QB indy and connected on majority of his throws. During 3 on 3 you can tell he wanted to go deep for the score but the restrictions of the walls wouldn’t allow the receivers to do so safely every time. His ball placement in his deep ball were precise and consistent. He’d hit within 2 feet of the corner of the endzone every time. Either the receiver made the play or let the ball go, he never underthrew a receiver the entire day.

Brennan Bailey | 2023 DB | Good Counsel

Brennan’s technique really outshined a lot of DB’s. His backpedal and breaks were all smooth and clean in every direction. No wasted steps or movements. He’s long bodied but could gain a couple pounds over this offseason; I’m sure that won’t be an issue for long at Good Counsel. During 1on1s he finished through the ball whether he was beat or not showing good habits as a DB.

Nik Hadeed | 2022 RB/ATH | Clarksburg

Demonstrated explosiveness and competitive spirit. Hadeed was always at the front of the line trying to get more reps and showcase his abilities. Whole heartedly think he was playing the wrong position for his school. His film shows OLB/DE and a little bit of running back. He’s 5’9 183lbs, explosive, quick, and has good hands. He’d make a great slot receiver based off of the skillset I witnessed at this showcase. In 1on1’s against one of the top D1 LB prospects in the state he fought through contact and made a play on the ball. Impressive knowing the size and strength advantage the defender had.

[player_tooltip player_id="249416" first="Shae" last="Terry"] | 2024 DB | Avalon

Passes the eye test and is only a sophomore. Very strong dominant DB. Easily covers less athletic players and plays with his feet first. Already a started at his school and has an offer from Boston College so far. With his frame and athleticism expect to hear this name more frequent as 2024 approaches.

Terry’s Hudl Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id="249255" first="Mikhail" last="Seiken"] | 2023 WR | Blair

Seiken stood out from indy period through ball drills. Mikhail is another receiver that snaps down allowing him to get in and out of breaks clean. His footwork during route running is above average and he has the hands to match his skillset. He can line up on the outside or at slot, he’s productive in any position you put him. Showed a good connection with teammate [player_tooltip player_id="246840" first="Kendell" last="Anderson"], it will be exciting to watch these two team-up over the summer and spring.
