There are lots of players in the peach state focusing on bringing home a title while also trying to find their new home at the next level.
Here are some prospects who made big decisions on their recruitment this week…
Isaiah Bond Isaiah Bond 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Buford | 2022 State GA – ATH – Buford
One of the fastest and most explosive players across the country, Bond is preparing for another state championship with the Wolves, but he made a massive decision on his recruitment this week, committing to the Alabama Crimson Tide after de-committing from Florida. He’s not the biggest wide-out in the region, but his speed tough to handle for just about every DB he goes up against, and can turn around and stay with just about any receiver as a defensive back. At 6-foot-0 175-pounds, Bond is a dangerous deep-ball threat for any offense at the next level due to his straight-line speed and ball skills.

AJ Swann – QB – Cherokee
One of the top senior QBs in North Georgia, Swanna saw plenty of offers come his way after an impressive junior season, leading to a commitment to Maryland in March of 2021. Swann continued his stellar play this fall as a senior, leading to even more offers. The big 6-foot-3 200-pounder received plenty of attention this fall and has now flipped his commitment from Maryland to Vanderbilt.
🚨Blessed & Honored to be 110% committed to Vanderbilt University⚓️⬇️ @Coach_Lea @coachjoeylynch @bartonsimmons @coachofwarriors @CoachPearce11 @RivalsWoody @Mansell247 @ChadSimmons_ pic.twitter.com/JPXzGrW005

Jake Johnson Jake Johnson 6'5" | 210 lbs | TE Oconee County | 2022 State GA – TE – Oconee County
One of the top-ranked tight ends across the country, Johnson is a soft-handed pass catcher who has been tough to stop for a solid three years now. He was a big recruit as an underclassmen due to his size, length, and above average athleticism. A long-time LSU Tiger commitment, Johnson is a big target at 6-foot-5 220-pounds who has decided to back off his pledge to the Tigers after a coaching chance at LSU. The senior is fundamentally sound, an above-average great route runner, and knows how to go up and make a play on the football. As a senior, Johnson caught 45 passes for 745 yards and eight touchdowns.
With much prayer and thoughtful consideration, I am de-committing from LSU. I am opening up my recruitment! I plan on early enrollment @Jakejohnson2022 @Max_Johnson_14 https://t.co/Zq4oWpdzj6

Xavier Smith – ATH – Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes is one of the top programs in Atlanta, and thanks to Hughes, that are playing for the 6A state championship this weekend. One of the hardest-working players and best athlete on the team, Smith was excellent on both sides of the ball this season. rushing for plenty of yards and making tackle after tackle all fall. The 6-foot-2 190-pounder has a good size and frame, but he’s pretty fast for his size. He also has some explosiveness to his game that other big athletes don’t have. He’s one of the top two-way players in the region and this week he committed to play for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Quentel Jones Quentel Jones 6'3" | 285 lbs | DL Peach County | 2022 State GA – DL – Peach County
One of the top overall defensive linemen in Middle Georgia, the big 6-foot-3 285-pounder is coming off an impressive senior season and saw some SEC offers come his way. He plays with leverage but his quickness off the ball is what stands out the most. He’s a physical defender from a tough program and has started to take his game to the next level in the last 12 months. He moves well for his size, he’s disruptive, and he could see many more offers coming his way. This week, Jones committed to Kentucky over offers from Tennessee, Mississippi State, Coastal Carolina, and many more.
