Looking ahead to 2025, there are already a handful of backs that are getting serious college attention. Here, we take a close look at some younger backs that will surely rise over the next three years.
Chance Arthur | 5’11 | Kennesaw Mountain

At 5’11 200, Arthur is a short and compact RB that is hard to bring down. Last season, Arthur got 67 carries for 300 yards at the varsity level. The biggest thing you notice about Arthur is that he runs hard. He might not blow anyone away with crazy juke moves or super flashy runs, but he has quick bursts of explosiveness and can accelerate fast enough to blow past the entire defense. Is a two-way player, and plays with the same amount of intensity on the defensive side of the ball. Arthur is already an elite athlete and has an impressive frame. Once he adjusts to the speed of the varsity game, he is certainly an RB to watch over the next couple of years.
Zion Buffington | 5’9 | Flowery Branch

Buffington saw 32 carries his freshman year, but he averaged 6.6 YPC to run for 210 yards. On film, Buffington is clearly a scat-back who will offer a change of pace at the RB position. At 5’9 160, he is not someone who will scare you walking off the bus, but he is a tough runner who stays upright. He also uses his speed and shiftiness to his advantage. He has room to grow physically, but that will come naturally. He doesn’t shy away from contact and is able to do plenty of damage in open field. Buffington is already under the radar, but something tells me he won’t be for long once he hits his stride on the varsity level.
Justin Baker | 5’9 | Buford

As far as 2025 RBs are concerned, Baker is on pace to solidify himself as one of the best in the state. Baker has already received offers and interests from major D1 schools, and received an invite to the FBU Freshman All American Game. He received all of these accolades without being an impact player at the varsity level, so it is clear that the expectations for him are high in the future. Baker does not have overwhelming speed, but he is super explosive and can accelerate enough to run away from the defense. What is most impressive is his patience and vision in the backfield. He is very much a Le’Veon Bell type runner, When he sees an opening, he explodes through it and gets downfield in a hurry. Baker is already one of the most highly recruited freshmen backs in the state, and he has yet to see meaningful playing time at the Varsity level. Because of that, his stock should explode in the near future.
Javen Parker | 5’8 | East Paulding

Parker played behind a super prolific rusher, but he made his impact felt at the Freshman and JV level. Against Alexander High School, Parker ran for 258 yards on 22 carries. The proof is in the pudding, and it is evident that Parker is a big-time talent by putting up numbers like that. On film, Parker has excellent vision and is extremely twitchy, those two things go hand in hand for him. Once he sees an opening in the defense, he makes one quick move and gets downfield in a hurry. He is also an extremely quick runner who runs hard, so he is not easy to bring down. He is at a school that has the recent history of producing productive RBs, and he is looking like the next on the list.
