Fab 50 Breakdown: Quarterbacks

[player_tooltip player_id="59494" first="Ryan" last="Burger"], [player_tooltip player_id="89345" first="Zolten" last="Osborne"] and [player_tooltip player_id="153264" first="Trent" last="Pearman"] were three of our selections for the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2021/12/prz-fab-50-offense/">Fab 50</a> - our version of the South Carolina All-State team. But what put them over the top in what is quickly becoming a quarterback-laden state? For each of them, it was something different. We break it all down here. <strong>BURGER</strong> The Appalachian State commitment has 2.5 seasons of starting experience under his belt. And his final year didn’t disappoint. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/10274321/615da6eb3449de0748b8f8d3" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> The Myrtle Beach senior passed for 2,281 yards and 32 touchdowns in 11 games - many of which when the Seahawks were up big and certainly not putting his talents to use late. (Burger also ran for 413 yards and two scores.) What we loved most about Burger’s skill set, though, was his ability to protect the ball. In 221 pass attempts this fall, he threw only three interceptions. <strong>OSBORNE</strong> The Fort Dorchester junior has started getting some interest from college playoff-bound Cincinnati in recent weeks. His body of work tells us the Bearcats are on to something. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/11980695/61a6a0252347510658442ac6" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> Osborne threw for 3,512 yards and put up 38 total touchdowns this season after throwing for 1,595 and putting up 19 total scores as a sophomore. What’s more, all those yards are coming against a highly competitive schedule. Yes, Osborne has tons of weapons at his disposal. But you still have to do something with them. <strong>PEARMAN</strong> The uncommitted Daniel senior has one of the quickest releases around, something we saw time and again last weekend during the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl. But what we have also seen plenty of is Pearman’s unshakeable presence in the pocket. Take this play for instance: <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/9520812/619b802d041d7804e0c8dace" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> Pearman knew he was about to get drilled. Yet, he let it rip and hit the receiver in stride for what ended up being a 77-yard touchdown pass during a route of a pretty good Clinton team in the playoffs. It’s a good indication of how he threw for 3,769 yards and 45 touchdowns this year.
