Like AAU basketball, 7-on-7 football is an offseason exposure and development platform for rising talent outside of college prospect camps and combines. Players travel around the country or region to compete against the nation’s top recruits; competition they may not be exposed to at their local high schools. Volt7v7 is emerging as a hotbed for talent in the state. Last year they won a nationally recognized Pylon 7v7 tournament in New Jersey, being crowned the 18U Seniors Allowed Division Champion and placed as the runner up at Pylon Philadelphia. In 2021 they featured Penn State commit [player_tooltip player_id="90630" first="Kolt" last="Pearce"] who dominated with his height and ball skills. Let’s take a look at who stood out at this showcase.
[player_tooltip player_id="248403" first="Shajuan" last="Rice"] | 2023 DB | Our Lady of Mount Carmel
At 6’3 Shajuan is a very tall DB but has the athleticism to keep up with the fastest guy on the field. He was very aggressive in press and played with a fire about him. Good technique to complement his natural physical abilities, strengths being his height plus speed, and agility. Rice earned an invite to the All-American Bowl Combine at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas this January after his performance this past season.

Kibby displayed his acrobatics and superior ball skills during this showcase. Open or not Kibby finds a way to come down with the ball. Kibby also lines up at the line like a boxer and uses his hands well, gaining separation through hand fighting. Kibby earned an BTC All-Star Game invite due to his performance this season.

Chase Wilkins | 2023WR | Mount St. Joseph
Great mix of size, strategic route running and footwork. As a former quarterback Wilkens understands when and where to be on the field in order to make a play, he has an in depth understanding of coverages. This 6’4 receiver plays in the slot but is no stranger to the redzone jump ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="250322" first="Anthony" last="Smith"] | 2025 WR | Overlea
Smith is a sure handed freshmen that loves to compete. He has above average footwork for his class and is as elusive as they come. Smith drew eyes of all coaches on a one hand catch he made in 1-on-1’s. Even though he is only class of ’25 he fit the skill level of the 22’s and 23’s.

Jamaury Thomas | 2024 DB | Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Thomas demonstrated great technique in press, zone, and chase, recording INTs in 1-on-1s and the 7-on-7 portion. He plays through the echo of the whistle never allowing receivers to get a second chance at securing the ball. Once the ball is in the air he’s locked in until he’s sure its incomplete.

[player_tooltip player_id="184009" first="Mekhi" last="Workman"] | 2023 WR | Franklin
Workman is an acrobat in cleats. Explosive footwork and route running paired with his superior ball skills makes it hard for any DB to win every aspect of a 1-on-1 rep. Workman ended the day with multiple 1 hand catches and touchdowns, and even got some reps in at DB during the 7-on-7 portion, his second position. Workman earned an invite to the All-American Bowl Combine at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas this January after his performance this past season.

Moss was the most complete WR at this showcase, possesses size 6’1in 185lbs, strength, speed 4.54, route running and has strong hands. He never ran the crazy routes you see at showcases/tryouts and was still very productive. He’s smooth in and out of breaks and consistently comes back to the ball which separated him from a lot of receivers.

Very versatile athlete who can play safety and receiver. He changes direction with ease and can really flip his hips in and out of breaks. I really like his length on defense and how he closes on receivers fast especially in zone coverage. He’s 6’3 but plays the ball like he is 6’6, he’ll go up and get it on either side of the ball.
