Division II Under the Radar Standouts – Volume 2

On Thursday night in Canton we saw Winton Woods upend defending state champs Archbishop Hoban 21-10.  I will detail the top performing recruits below. <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Archbishop Hoban</strong></span> LB, <strong>Jermaine James</strong> 5’11 195 (2023) - Jermaine had a real productive night on Thursday for the Knights.  He is a very good rising Senior on both sides of the ball.  He is very athletic and relentless to the football.  Plays with really good leverage and technique.  Uses his speed to get ball carriers on the ground quickly.  He is a very sound tackler with good wrap and foot drive.  Impressive pass dropper and closes out routes fast. CB/KR, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="34429" first="Markim" last="McKinnie"]</strong> 6’0 190 (2022) - Markim is very skilled in the kick return game.  He had 3 returns for almost 70 yards on Thursday night.  He is really fast in the open field and a threat every time you kick to him.  He plays CB with really good technique.  Very good back pedal with patience and quick transitions.  He stays on top of routes and has good spacial awareness.  He breaks on the ball well and is very quick to break up passes.  He is a good tackler and plays the ball well to him and away from him. <strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Winton Woods</span></strong> DL, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="34459" first="Jayden" last="Denton"]</strong> 6’3 230 (2022) - Very skilled DL with good physicality and athleticism.  Big bodied and tall with long arms.  Gets off the snap quickly and makes plays when called upon.  Plays with a high motor and has a relentless pass rush.  He is tall but has good enough hips to bend well and get into the backfield.  Keep a good eye on him this offseason for potential offers. OLB, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="186830" first="Seven" last="Blue"]</strong> 6’0 200 (2022) - Seven is an outstanding athlete and very skilled.  He is very adept at setting a good edge and holding the force.  He keeps his outside arm free and plays the ball well back inside.  He relentlessly rushes the passer with a couple of good moves and has good bend.  He is a very good football player on all three sides of the ball. &nbsp; &nbsp;
