Starting the season off against Mansfield High School out of Texas and Muskogee out of Oklahoma were good tests to start the season. The Wolverines would split those two contests and start the season with a 1-1 record. The future is bright at Bentonville West.
Looking first, at the offensive side of the ball for the Wolverines. The quarterback position looks to be in good hands for the Wolverines over the next few seasons. Through eight games last season, Casey threw for 1,698 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. He gives the Wolverines a quarterback that is an accurate passer and one that can make all the throws needed to run the offense. Casey is mobile enough to extend the play and make the throws needed to extend the drive.
The Wolverines’ rushing attack has a dynamic player in the offensive backfield at the running back position. Junior running back Carson Morgan Carson Morgan 6'1" | 180 lbs | RB Bentonville West | 2023 State AR flashed plenty of big play potential in six games last season. Morgan carried the ball 74 times for 574 yards and six touchdowns. Morgan has the speed and is a patient running back. He does a great job of allowing rushing lanes to develop. He has proven to be a weapon in the passing game as well racking up over 150 yards receiving during the 2021 season.
Bentonville West has plenty of talented wide receivers that will have the opportunity to make some big plays in 2022. Junior wide receiver Ty Durham caught 33 passes for 620 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Durham is the kind of wide receiver that can turn a short passing play into an explosive one with very little effort. Meanwhile, Nick Bell Nick Bell 5'10" | 155 lbs | DB Bentonville West | 2023 State AR is a player to keep an eye out for on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Bell has tremendous speed and is a game changer each side.
Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, the Wolverines have a number of talented players. Nick Bell Nick Bell 5'10" | 155 lbs | DB Bentonville West | 2023 State AR does a great job of lurking in the secondary and will cause plenty of headaches for opposing offensive coordinators next season. Junior linebacker Braden Jones Braden Jones 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Bentonville West | 2023 State AR is a player that has excellent speed and is always around the ball carrier. The Bentonville West defense has the opportunity to be a strong unit next season.
