6A Preview: No. 1 Tampa Jesuit Is Ready

For the past four years, Tampa Jesuit's football program has been pushing their way into the elite spotlight. Mission accomplished. When the unbeaten and No. 1 team in Florida takes on Pensacola Pine Forest (13-1) tonight (7:00) at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, head coach Matt Thompson and his team can bring home a 6A state title that they have been after for several seasons. While this program has long been viewed as a team on the rise, they got the attention of everyone in Week 2 when they knocked off longtime national powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas, which just wrapped up their sixth state title in the past eight years.
