5A Division I State Championship (Paetow Defense)

<p class="p1"><span style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">On Friday night December 17th, 2021 I went to Dallas, TX to watch the UIL 5A Division I State Championship High School football game at The AT&amp;T Stadium. The game was between The Katy Paetow Panthers (15-1) vs The College Station Cougars (15-1). Both teams are evenly matched there was no telling who would win this game. By the end of the 1st half both teams were tied at 14-14 and then by the end of the 4th quarter they were tied again at 21-21. Therefore, this led the game going into overtime. The momentum kept on flipping between both of the teams throughout the whole game. However, one team had to win the game and The Katy Paetow Tigers scored a touchdown during overtime resulting in a final score of 27-24. The Katy Paetow Tigers are the 5A division I state champions. I will be discussing The Katy Paetow Tigers defensive standouts.</span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#34 Tyler Silves OLB Sr 6’3 205 lbs </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">An aggressive and imposing force was outside linebacker #34 Tyler Silves. Tyler was always in the action. Tyler name was always being said through the loudspeaker for getting the tackle. Tyler also blitzed one play to get a huge sack that cause a fumble and deflected a pass. Tyler was able to end out his high school football career a state champion. Tyler wrapped up his final high school football with five overall tackles, one sack and one pass deflection. </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#16 Kentrell Webb FS Sr 5’11 180 lbs </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">Kentrell Webb is a physical free safety. Kentrell never let an opportunity get pass him. Kentrell was great at pursuing and chasing the ball holder. Kentrell had great tackling form and never saw him miss an open field tackle. Kentrell was also great at reading plays when he prevented a touchdown pass and caught it for an interception. Kentrell was able to end out his high school football career a state champion. Kentrell is also a top college prospect having numerous college and universities offers from; Air Force Academy, Houston Baptist University, New Mexico State, Lehigh University and Colgate University. Kentrell wrapped up his final high school football with nine overall tackles and one interception. </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#46 Alexander Kilgore ILB Jr 6’2 210 lbs </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">Alexander Kilgore is an impressive inside line backer. Alexander is strong, fast and decisive. Alexander stopped or contributed in stopping a lot of College Station’s run plays. Alexander was able to recover a fumble and run it down for 31 yards. Alexander will be a big part of Paetow’s defense next year in his senior year. Alexander currently has one college offer from Arkansas State University. Alexander wrapped up the night with 10 overall tackles and a fumble recovery. </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#27 Daymion Sanford OLB Jr 6’2 190 lbs </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">Daymion Sanford is another standout linebacker. Daymion is an outside linebacker and his standout trait was blitzing. Daymion was great at blitzing and applied tremendous amount of pressure. Daymion wrapped up the night with eight overall tackles. </span></p>
