Now that the offseason is upon us, it makes a lot of sense to look back on the season and highlight the top performing players from around the state. This particular post focuses on the elite offensive players from the WCAC this season.
2025 6’0 175 QB [player_tooltip player_id="250315" first="Denzel" last="Gardner"] – DeMatha
There are very few quarterbacks in the 2025 class that have a higher ceiling than [player_tooltip player_id="250315" first="Denzel" last="Gardner"]. The tandem of his mobility and throwing skill makes him one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country, regardless of age. His throwing ability on the run is second to none in the WCAC, and he’s equally dangerous throwing from outside the pocket as he is throwing inside of it. Gardner also has an absolute rocket launcher for an arm. His throwing velocity is far above average for his age, and he will only get more accurate with his throws over time. The DeMatha Stags are far and away my way too early pick to win the WCAC in 2022, and [player_tooltip player_id="250315" first="Denzel" last="Gardner"] is a huge reason for that.

2022 6’4 195 WR [player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"] – St. John’s
[player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"] was the biggest deep ball threat in the WCAC this season and it was not close at all. He scored more long ball touchdowns, and overall touchdowns, than anyone else in the WCAC. He gets off the line of scrimmage and down the field in a flash, which makes it nearly impossible to cover him unless you double him. The First Team All-WCAC receiver recently received an offer from University of Richmond to play next year, as his offers continue to flow. There’s no question that we will see [player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"] playing Division I football in 2022, the only question is: where will he choose to take his talents? Linkins is certainly one of the most elite receivers in all of the DMV, and his commitment is being eagerly anticipated.

2024 6’0 180 RB [player_tooltip player_id="249102" first="Dilin" last="Jones"] – Good Counsel
You’d be hard pressed to find a Sophomore running back that is better than [player_tooltip player_id="249102" first="Dilin" last="Jones"]. Jones was named First Team All-WCAC this year, which is absolutely unheard of considering he is in the class of 2024. The two things that stand out when you watch Jones run are his size and his agility. He’s nearly impossible to bring down on first contact, and that’s why his yards after contact absolutely skyrocketed this season. [player_tooltip player_id="249102" first="Dilin" last="Jones"] is a straight up power back who recently received an offer from Boston College. The ACC would be a perfect fit for Jones, but there’s no doubt that he has more power five conference offers coming his way. [player_tooltip player_id="249102" first="Dilin" last="Jones"] is one hundred percent the most exciting running back in the WCAC coming into the 2022 season.

2022 6’3 225 TE [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] – Gonzaga
Defenses can run any scheme they want in order to stop [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"], but it simply is not going to work, short of triple teaming him. [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] is an unstoppable force at the tight end position, and he proved that in every single way with the Gonzaga Purple Eagles. Kurisky recently accepted his offer from Louisville, making him a Cardinal for the next four years. Louisville nation should be beyond excited because [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] is a leader on and off the field who truly talks the talk and walks the walk. He embodies the tight end position, and, from blocking to receiving, he excels in every situation the position puts him in. [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] will make an immediate impact at Louisville, and there’s no question that he’s more than ready for power five conference competition.

2023 6’1 180 WR [player_tooltip player_id="247536" first="Sean" last="Williams"] – St. John’s
[player_tooltip player_id="247536" first="Sean" last="Williams"] is one of the best route runners in the entire DMV area period. He finds the open space so seamlessly and so well that it’s often perplexing for viewers. Not to mention those unlucky DBs tasked with covering him. The First Team All-WCAC receiver averaged more than 20 yards per/rec during his Junior season, and he was absolutely integral in St. Johns’ undefeated season this year. He already has offers from elite programs such as Pitt and Cincinnati, and there’s no question that even more offers will be flooding in next year amidst his Senior season. D1 scouts everywhere must keep an eye on [player_tooltip player_id="247536" first="Sean" last="Williams"] in 2022.
