Again in 2021 your 3A State Champs are the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars led by Coach Lance Mancuso. The Jags pitched a second half shutout against 1st year Amory Head Coach Brooks Dampeer's Panthers to pull away and win 42-10. Check out the recap from Friday's matchup in Hattiesburg.

Run. Run. Run. - 421 rushing yards for Jeff Davis County led to a time of possession win of 29:15-18:45.

[player_tooltip player_id="139771" first="Malcolm" last="Hartzog"] has long been thought of as a sleeper for the class of 2022. The SR athlete picked up another Power 5 offer from Nebraska this week and that catapulted him to a huge state title game. 13 rushes for 130 yards and 2 TD's helped lead the Jags to victory. Hartzog projects well as a DB at the next level and he showed out there as well with an INT and another PBU.

Demario Booth isn't going to wow anyone with size but his stat line in his final high school game will! 17 rushes - 205 yards - 4TD. Booth and Hartzog proved to be a two-headed monster in the backfield.

[player_tooltip player_id="108968" first="Charleston" last="French"] is a 2023 RB to really keep track of moving into his senior season. French has been the best form of offense for Amory throughout the year and that did not change in the state title game. 13 carries for 132 yards paced the Panther offense. French is a thick build, power back with tough intangibles. Type of guy that enjoys running thru folks as much as around them. Will be one of the top backs in the state next year.

Another ATH to keep an eye on next year is [player_tooltip player_id="281322" first="Cameron" last="Haynes"] at Amory. A play-maker on both sides of the ball with a build that excites scouts. Haynes led all receiving in the game with 5 grabs for 68 yards and a TD.

2021 again sees the boys from Jefferson Davis County on top! Both the Jags in the South and the Panthers from Amory in the North will be in quite the position to repeat in 2022.
