Here are a few impressive 2024 QBs to know about through the offseason and into the 2022 season.
Bryce Clavon – Dutchtown
A two-sport star who has an incredible future on the baseball diamond, Clavon was an excellent dual-threat playmaker for Dutchtown this season, showcasing his athleticism on a weekly basis. He’s quick and explosive as a runner, but he also showed that his arm is strong enough to win games through the air. He’s a dynamic playmaker who just glides when he runs. He’s developing more and more as a passer, showing he can throw on the run and push the ball downfield accurately. He’s a fun athlete to watch and one of the top dual-threat QBs in the Atlanta area for the 2024 class.
One of the top young sophomores in Savannah, Merklinger has a breakout year as a sophomore, showing really impressive poise and accuracy for someone his age. He completed just under 73% of his passes this year, and impressive number for anyone, much less a young sophomore. He made good decisions with the ball, throwing for 25 touchdowns to just 7 INTs. He commanded the offense and ran it well all season. leading Calvary Day to an Elite 8 run in the playoffs. He’s also added 268 rushing yards and 10 more touchdowns on the ground, proving he can make plenty of plays with his feet. When he’s around the goal-line, he has enough quickness and toughness to find his way into the endzone.
Jaxon Pate – Sonoraville
Another dual-threat QB in North Georgia, Pate showed off some heels and a big arm this season as a sophomore, leading Sonoraville to a 6-4 record. He showed good arm strength and consistency through the air, passing for 220 yards a game, totaling just under 2,200 yards for the season with 24 touchdowns. He also showed excellent mobility and playmaking ability with his feet, keeping defenses off balance with his quickness and ability to pick up big yards on the ground. He rushed for 658 yards and another 7 touchdowns as a rusher this season. Look for him to improve more and more heading into next season.
Luke Zevac – Calvary Christian
Out in Columbus is where we’ll find another young playmaking QB in Zevac. The sophomore is still developing as a passer and is working on his mechanics and accuracy. He played better in his final two games as a passer, but he also showed that his ability to run can hurt defenses as well. Not only did he throw for just under 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns, but he rushed for 400 yards as well, going over 100 yards rushing one time. He’s still learning, but Zevac is a GAPPS AAA QB to know about next year in the 2024 class.
