2022 Stock – Risers

The updated rankings now include 185 college prospects.  There were several impressive individual performances across the state throughout the season.  I am reviewing four players whose performances stood out amongst the 2022 class: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="98108" first="Angeni" last="Jacobs"], LB, 6’2" 215, Christ School (No. 9 LB, No. 59 overall)</strong>.  Angeni displayed good lateral movement and footwork on plays.  He played at a high-energy level throughout each game.  He displayed good reaction to the ball on each play.  Angeni has a good work ethic and trains constantly during the off-season to improve his skills.  [player_tooltip player_id="98108" first="Angeni" last="Jacobs"] performance on the field improved each season as he moved up the linebacker rankings.  He finished his senior season with 26 total tackles. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"], QB, 6’4" 195, Rolesville HS (No. 1 QB, No. 1 overall)</strong>.  Byrum regained the top spot at quarterback after a stellar senior season performance.  Byrum is a talented dual-threat quarterback who attacks the defense with his accurate passing and running ability.  The South Florida University commit finished the season with 3,701 passing yards, 43 passing TDs, 1,173 rushing yards and 13 rushing TDs for a total of 4,874 yards and 56 TDs.  [player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"] finished his high school career with 7,948 passing yards, 88 passing TDs, 2,016 rushing yards, 26 rushing TDs for a total of 9,064 yards and 114 TDs. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="141401" first="Jaden" last="Watkins"], WR, 6’3" 173, Asheville School (No. 8 WR, No. 30 overall)</strong>.  Jaden displayed the ability to use his body to shield defenders to make catches in traffic.  He ran good pass routes and displayed good speed in the open field to gain yardage.  Jaden was clearly the most dominant player on the offensive unit.  The performances on the field moved him up in the player rankings.  [player_tooltip player_id="141401" first="Jaden" last="Watkins"] finished the season with 1,309 receiving yards and 12 TDs. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28650" first="Cade" last="Goldman"], OL, 6’4" 295, Hickory Ridge HS (No. 1 OL, No. 2 overall)</strong>.  Cade’s performance on the field moved him into the top offensive lineman spot.  He is a big agile lineman who used his size and strength to excel at drive-blocking.  There is a lot of film showing him driving defenders into the second level of the defense.  The UNC-Charlotte commit is expected to make an impact on the field as a college player.
