South Carolina was chock full of big-time playmakers this fall.
From the Upstate to the coast, a number of them weren’t just good - they were threats to score every single time they touched the football. Not so surprisingly, many of them found their way into our Class of 2022 rankings over the past year-plus.
With the latest player rankings release (the final one for this classification), we’re going to tell you about a few of them who we saw celebrating in the end zone time after time.

Smith entered his third and final season on Gaffney’s varsity with 10 total touchdowns. Yeah, he destroyed that figure in 15 games in 2021. Smith was a huge part of the Indians’ 15-0 season - one that included a Class 5A state championship - as he rushed for 30 touchdowns and caught another five. He had a touchdown for every 7.25 offensive touches this year.

The Clemson signee probably got a boost in targets when former teammate Devin Hyatt transferred to IMG Academy during the offseason. Williams made the extra looks count. In 25 total games (including one as a sophomore), the talented wideout accumulated 30 total touchdowns. Twenty of those came this fall.

The one-time Buffalo commit decided to re-open his recruiting late in the season, in part, at least, due to his monster senior year. Bennett scored 34 touchdowns this fall, continuing a build that he began as a sophomore. In 38 varsity games for Trinity Collegiate, the 5-foot-9, 185-pounder scored 78 touchdowns.
[player_tooltip player_id="61071" first="Demetri" last="Simmons"], Goose Creek
Everyone knew that Simmons was going to be priority No. 1 for opposing squads looking to prevent Goose Creek from a third consecutive region title. That knowledge wasn’t enough. The Gators added another title, thanks to 28 total touchdowns from the senior and South Carolina State commitment. Combined with his junior year, he had 40 total scores.
[player_tooltip player_id="89314" first="Kazarius" last="Adams"], Gray Collegiate
It would be hard to argue that any player for Gray had a larger impact on the team’s rise to prominence than Adams (pictured). That’s because over the course of four seasons, the 2021 Mr. Football finalist crossed the goal line 114 times. That hefty tally included 40 rushing scores this fall alone and a touchdown for every nine times he touched the ball on the varsity level.
