Week 11 Defensive Standouts: Houston Area
We have reached the last week of the regular season and had some key games into play, where star players put on some fantastic performances. We had some players leave it all out on the field for their teams and we had some who made the plays when needed the most in their games. Listed below are some DAWGS who balled out in their regular season finale and who stood out in big moments.
<em><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>LB Brandon Joseph (2023) - Dekaney</strong></span></em>
Man Joseph was in on almost every play and looked like a madman on the field vs. Benjamin Davis. Joseph showed off his skills at the linebacker position. His athleticism was through the roof and his ability to recognize plays stood out tremendously. Joseph was coming off the edge and making plays in the backfield, as well as chasing down plays putting a halt to would-be big plays. Joseph recorded 21 total tackles, including 15 solo, 5 TFLs, and a sack! In a close game he came up big in the moment. Joseph played fast and physical, and was a beast in space.

<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><em>DB/LB [player_tooltip player_id="60749" first="Dylan" last="Dixson"] (2022) - Pearland</em></strong></span>
Dixson was excellent in run support for the Pearland defense vs. a very tough Dawson offense. He was downhill on every play needed and made great tackles in the open field vs. a very shifty back. Dixson showed a great motor and showed to be a sideline to sideline player who is not afraid to make the big plays when needed. Dixson put his awareness on display and was quick on his reads. On the night Dixson had 16 tackles and was impressive the entire night.

<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><strong>LB/Edge Daymion Sanford (2023) - Paetow</strong></em></span>
Sanford was in the backfield often vs. Angleton an was a big part in a terrific showing from the Paetow defense. Sanford was setting the edge and showed excellent get off when rushing the passer. He looked to always have a hand on the opposing quarterback before anything could get started. Sanford finished the game with 8 tackles, 5 TFLs, and 4 sacks.
