Now that the season is amidst playoff time, it makes a lot of sense to look back on the regular season and recognize the top performing players. The following list and analysis ranks the top performing wide receivers from the District of Columbia.
2022 6’4 180 WR [player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"] – St. John’s
[player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"] deserves to be unanimously named to the WCAC First Team. He performed spectacularly well this season, and he has continued to do so in the playoffs as well. Linkins scored 8 touchdowns and tallied on 500+ receiving yards during his Senior campaign, and there’s no doubt that he was the best receiver in D.C. this season. [player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"] is a star, and he absolutely has what it takes to play power five conference football at the next level. Everyone must remember the name [player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"]. With a chance to complete the perfect season, he will play the final high school football game of his career this Sunday in the WCAC championship game against Good Counsel at 5PM.

2023 6’6 225 WR [player_tooltip player_id="90682" first="Nyckoles" last="Harbor"] – Archbishop Carroll
Of all the receivers on this list, [player_tooltip player_id="90682" first="Nyckoles" last="Harbor"] has the highest ceiling. Harbor has offers from: Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, and etc. Clearly college scouts see a lot of potential upside with Harbor, and it’s impossible to disagree with them because Harbor is deserving of every offer he has received. [player_tooltip player_id="90682" first="Nyckoles" last="Harbor"] caught 5 total touchdowns this season, and he also averaged around 20 yards per reception. He will look to extend those numbers this Sunday in the WCAC Metro division championship against St. Mary’s Ryken at 11:30AM.

2022 6’3 225 WR/TE [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] – Gonzaga
The Georgia Tech verbal commit will go down in school history as one of the best overall tight ends to ever play at Gonzaga. Kurisky is a leader on and off the field, and he is absolutely a payer that coaches want in a college locker room. Just the fact that he’s this highly ranked on a wide receiver’s list should give you some sense of how dominant he was as a receiving tight end this season. Throw the ball up for him and, more likely than not, [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] will catch it. From blocking to coaching up his guys, [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] does it all, and he will certainly do big things at Georgia Tech.

2022 6’0 195 WR [player_tooltip player_id="90627" first="Josh" last="Gary"] – St. John’s
[player_tooltip player_id="134896" first="Wyatt" last="Hagan"], St. Johns’ Senior quarterback, and [player_tooltip player_id="90627" first="Josh" last="Gary"] developed quite an efficient tandem over the course of this season. Especially on third down situations, Gary would almost always get the ball, and the reason is his footwork. Gary’s agility and ability to find the open space is second to none, and it’s going to pay dividends at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="90627" first="Josh" last="Gary"] had his best season of his career this year, scoring 5 total touchdowns and adding on nearly 500 yards receiving, and he was an integral part of this undefeated season run. Scouts everywhere should know about [player_tooltip player_id="90627" first="Josh" last="Gary"].

2023 5’11 180 WR Jalen McDonald – Gonzaga
Jalen McDonald was Gonzaga’s most consistent and reliable receiver this season. He saw a team-high number of targets, and he averaged over 10 yards per reception. McDonald won the majority of his matchups against elite WCAC defensive backs as well. Next year is going to be Jalen McDonald’s breakout season, as he is only a Junior now, and it’s going to be extremely exciting to watch his Senior campaign. Jalen McDonald is an elite WCAC receiver, and he will continue to climb this list next year.

2023 6’1 180 WR Sean Williams – St. John’s
Sean Williams is one of the best deep ball catchers in the entire DMV area, and you’d be hard pressed to find a local receiver with more receiving yards than him this season. Williams racked up more than 600 receiving yards, and he averaged more than 20 yards per reception. He has elite level speed for his size, and his shiftiness is a big reason why he’s able to extend plays for more yards. Sean Williams has the ability to be a big time impact player this weekend in the WCAC championship game, and if he gets going early then it could be a long night for Good Counsel. Sean Williams is absolutely an X factor player, and he should draw a lot of attention on Sunday.

2023 5’10 160 WR [player_tooltip player_id="90669" first="Jamarr" last="Ebron"] – Archbishop Carroll
The receiving touchdowns leader in the WCAC this season was [player_tooltip player_id="90669" first="Jamarr" last="Ebron"]. Ebron scored 10 touchdowns, and he even recorded multiple games with multiple touchdowns. He tallied nearly 400 yards receiving to go along with his touchdowns, making him one of the most well-rounded receivers in the entire WCAC. [player_tooltip player_id="90669" first="Jamarr" last="Ebron"] has the ability to blow the championship game wide open this Sunday, and if he has a big game then Carroll’s perfect season will, most likely, be complete. [player_tooltip player_id="90669" first="Jamarr" last="Ebron"] is a top 5 receiver in the 2023 class with next level potential.

2023 6’2 190 WR Asa Gregg – St. John’s
Asa Gregg had a breakout season this year. He displayed that he is a more than reliable number four option, and he also proved that he can do the dirty work such as blocking for his fellow receivers. Gregg averaged more than 10 yards per reception, and his quarterback really depended on him in crucial situations. Gregg had a lot of competition at the position this season, but next year, when his opportunity increases, he will absolutely double his production in every receiving category. Asa Gregg is a great sleeper pick for this weekend’s championship game, because he could easily be the difference maker.

2022 5’10 160 WR Michael Brown Jr. – Dunbar
Michael Brown Jr is the leader and captain of Dunbar, and he is also the top wide receiver on the team. Brown is a two way player who impacts the game on both sides of the ball, and the common denominator there is his speed. Michael Brown Jr possesses incendiary speed, and it’s the type of speed that should absolutely get scouts to ignore Brown’s height and weight. Michael Brown Jr is a division one level talent who does it all, and he has been a paramount part of Dunbar’s success this season.

2023 6’0 180 WR Brendan Lee – Gonzaga
Brendan Lee really heated up at the end of the season for the Purple Eagles. His route running is solid, especially in the slot, and if he has even a little bit of room then his speed takes care of the rest. With his game changing speed, Lee is the kind of receiver who can turn a five yard slant play into a 65 yard touchdown. Lee demonstrated great chemistry with Gonzaga’s quarterback Aidan Conrath, and the Purple Eagles’ receiving core certainly has a bright future with Brendan Lee and Jalen McDonald on their depth chart next year.
