The 2021 season has been a fascinating one in the state of Arkansas. On Friday, three state championship games found who would be playing at War Memorial Stadium next week. Congratulations to all of the teams that have earned a trip to play in Little Rock next week. All three matchups have the potential to be classic hard-hitting games. Let’s take a look at all three matchups.
Looking first at the 5-A State championship game. Pulaski Academy and White Hall will meet up in the title game. The Bruins of Pulaski Academy being in the championship game does not come as a surprise. The offense is for Pulaski Academy is explosive with [player_tooltip player_id="75067" first="Joe" last="Himon"] and [player_tooltip player_id="168255" first="Charlie" last="Fiser"] providing plenty of punch for Pulaski Academy. As for the White Hall Bulldogs, running back [player_tooltip player_id="75121" first="Zaire" last="Green"] is explosive and a nightmare to bring down in the open field and quarterback Matthew Martinez can make all the throws needed to run the Bulldogs. Martinez can also use his legs to his advantage and pick up plenty of yards on the ground.
Meanwhile, the 6-A State championship game is going to be one of the most eagerly awaited football games in the state next week. Both the Greenwood Bulldogs and the El Dorado Wildcats have plenty of talented players all over the field. The Greenwood Bulldogs are going to lean quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="160308" first="Hunter" last="Houston"] who threw for 368 yards and four touchdowns last week. [player_tooltip player_id="199093" first="Luke" last="Brewer"] and [player_tooltip player_id="239996" first="Aiden" last="Kennon"] give the Bulldogs two wide receivers that have the potential to cause headaches for the Wildcats.
Turning our attention to the El Dorado Wildcats. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="153818" first="Sharmon" last="Rester"] had a terrific outing against Marion last Friday. Rester racked up 421 total yards and five touchdowns in the 60-27 victory. [player_tooltip player_id="75129" first="DeAndra" last="Burns"] Jr continues to raise his level of play and he has the potential to have a strong outing against the Greenwood Bulldogs. I expect this title game to be one of the better state title games this season.
The 7-A State championship game is one that is going to have plenty of talented prospects to watch. Both Bryant and Fayetteville are teams capable of producing explosive plays and using the talent that they have. The Fayetteville Bulldogs have a talented quarterback in [player_tooltip player_id="75105" first="Bladen" last="Fike"] who can make any throw ask of him and put into the tightest of windows. [player_tooltip player_id="94925" first="Jalen" last="Blackburn"] and [player_tooltip player_id="75066" first="Isaiah" last="Sategna"] have had excellent playoff appearances thus far this season.
Meanwhile, the Bryant Hornets are not devoid of weapons. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="214915" first="Carson" last="Burnett"] has no trouble picking apart a defense with his accurate throws and good decision making. [player_tooltip player_id="166998" first="Mytorian" last="Singleton"] and [player_tooltip player_id="152083" first="Chris" last="Gannaway"] each give the Hornets an explosive big play threat that can take it the distance from anywhere on the field. The 7-A title game has the potential to be a close matchup that will go right down to the wire.
All the teams that have been discussed earned the title game appearances. Prep RedZone Arkansas would like to wish all of the teams good luck and enjoy one last high school football game this season!
