Once you get to the quarterfinal rounds teams start to really rely on their key guys. This is a big opportunity for each team’s top players to step up and raise their stock. These players did just that.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="172220" first="Jaylen" last="Harvey"] (2024) | 6’2 DE | Quince Orchard </strong>
Harvey had the task of setting the edge and not allowing Old Mill to get to the outside. He did a great job of shutting down the outside run game. He has great length which allows him to get his hands on blockers quickly and keep them off of him. He also has good moves that allow him to rush the passer as well as play contain. Harvey had a great game Friday.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="90593" first="Octavian" last="Smith"] (2022) | 6’1 QB | Paint Branch </strong>
Smith was explosive as ever Friday. He started the game off with a 77-yard touchdown. He was their most dangerous offensive weapon throughout the game. He drew attention all night. His speed, elusiveness, and explosiveness gave Northwest a ton of problems. Smith had another great performance in his final high school game.
<strong>Jonathan Durandis (2022) | 5’7 HB/DB | Blake</strong>
Durandis had a big breakout game Friday. On the offensive side of the ball, he had a big night on the ground as he broke off a couple of runs. He showed great vision and the ability to break tackles. On defense, he showed he is a playmaker as he had a big play where he ripped the ball from the ball carrier and took it back the other way. He made a ton of big plays and massively improved his stock in his last game.
<strong>Liam Haley (2022) | LB | Sherwood </strong>
Haley had another monster game on the defensive side of the ball. He made plays in both the run game and in the passing game. He showed he has the ability to rush the passer and get sacks. He also made plays downfield in the run game. He showed great tackling ability and great versatility throughout the game. Haley has been elite for Sherwood this season.
<strong>Jorden Hungerford (2024) | 5’11 HB/LB | Seneca Valley </strong>
Hungerford showed off his big-play ability on Friday. As a ball carrier, he was able to gash the defense as he ran hard and broke tackles all game. He is a very powerful runner and was very hard to bring down. On defense, he was physical and came downfield hard. He was a big player for Seneca Valley this year and will have an even bigger role next year.
<strong>Connor Mcdonald (2022) | 6’3 T | Quince Orchard </strong>
Mcdonald was dominant on Friday. In the run game, he would drive his defenders and take them wherever he wanted. He showed that he not only has great size but great power. He also had great hand placement as he was constantly getting inside hand position. He has quietly put together a very solid season.
