We’re through week 2 of the playoffs in Georgia and we saw some major upsets and impressive performances all across the peach state. Here are some top RB and QB performances from this past weekend...
[player_tooltip player_id="95164" first="Jordan" last="McDonald"] - Running Back - Milton
Easily the game’s top performer, McDonald showed why he’s one of the top backs in the state, running 26 times for 250 yards and three touchdowns. He had long 80+ yard run early in the game that got him down to the 1-yard line where he scored on the next play. The big, bruising back showed off his speed and big-play ability all night, carrying the Milton offense at times. He’s so tough to bring down and had one of his best games of his Milton career when it mattered the most. The UCF Knights are getting an absolute steal in McDonald who has the size and overall talent to play early on as a freshman next season.
[player_tooltip player_id="33862" first="Gunner" last="Stockton"] - QB - Rabun County
The Jeff Davis defense, one of the state’s best from a statistical standpoint, was supposed to be a challenge for the elite gunslinger from Rabun County. The future Georgia Bulldog went crazy for the 2nd week in a row, scoring 7 more touchdowns in easy fashion. The most points Jeff Davis had given up all season was just 14, but Stockton led Rabun County to a 56-7 win. He rushed for three touchdowns on the ground and distributed the ball well and accurately all night.
[player_tooltip player_id="33942" first="Robbie" last="Roper"] - QB - Roswell
In arguably the biggest upset of the night, Roper and the Roswell Hornets went up to North Cobb and took down the state championship hopeful Warriors. Roper has been outstanding all season, and against a tough defense, Roper led his team to a big 46-43 win. Roper was outstanding on the night, especially throwing the ball, going 25/36 for 288 yards and three passing touchdowns. He also added 50 rushing yards and two more touchdowns, with his final score being the game-winner. He was calm, poised, and showed why he’s one of the top senior QBs in the state.
Jai’den Thomas - RB - Westlake
Another impressive running back from the Atlanta area, Thomas has quietly become one of the top 2023 running backs in Atlanta and proved in last Friday night as Westlake took down Kennesaw Mountain. The 5-foot-10 175-pounder carried the load for Westlake and ran wild on the Mustangs, rushing for over 200 yards and two touchdowns on the night. If he keeps running like that, Westlake might be able to pull off the upset this weekend over powerhouse Carrollton.

[player_tooltip player_id="137481" first="Christopher" last="Martin"] - QB - Lee County
He’s one of the top young 2024 QBs in Georgia and Martin showed why on Friday. They won a close shootout at home against Cambridge, and the young sophomore was able to deliver. He threw multiple TD passes in Lee County’s 42-39 victory. He showed poise, accuracy, and impressive arm strength and he slung the ball across the field. If he keeps it up, Lee County could have another special season this fall. Martin finished the game going 10/12 for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
