It is playoff time in the state of Arkansas. The air is cooler, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and if you love high school football your thoughts are centering around a trip to Little Rock. We are going to take a look at some players that had impressive performances on the first night of the playoffs here in the Natural State. [player_tooltip player_id="75068" first="Jaishon" last="Davis"]-Athlete-Arkadelphia-2022 [player_tooltip player_id="75068" first="Jaishon" last="Davis"] has had a terrific season this season for the Badgers, and he has continued his impressive play into the playoffs. Davis exploded on the ground rushing 12 times for 152 yards and five touchdowns. Davis is one of the most impressive players in the class of 2022 and he is setting the stage for a big playoff run over the next few weeks. [player_tooltip player_id="192960" first="Josh" last="Shepherd"]-Running Back-Rogers-2022 The Rogers running back has been a workhorse all season for the Mounties. He had a terrific game against Little Rock Catholic on Friday night. Shepherd rushed 17 times for 246 yards and three touchdowns. Rogers is a dangerous team when the run and the pass is performing as well as what it has been over the past few weeks. The Mounties will be a tough team to beat in the playoffs. [player_tooltip player_id="181497" first="Preston" last="Davis"]-Linebacker-Little Rock Christian-2024 Davis is a linebacker that I have been keeping an eye on all season. He is a player that is all over the field for Little Rock Christian. Davis plays with good speed, and he continues to set the bar with the playoffs going. On Friday, Davis racked up 11 tackles, one for a loss, and a forced fumble against an extremely talented Vilonia team. Davis will get another chance to shine next Friday night. [player_tooltip player_id="201997" first="Sundquist" last="Church"]-Running Back-Fort Smith Northside-2022 The Northside Grizzlies have an extremely strong backfield combination this season that has sliced up opposing defenses over the course of this season. The Grizzlies kept up the strong rushing attack against Bentonville West on the first night of the state playoffs. Church racked up 204 yards and two touchdowns off of 21 carries. Look out for the punishing Northside ground game next week. [player_tooltip player_id="172037" first="Landon" last="Wright"]-Quarterback-Ozark-2023 The Ozark signal caller had a strong performance on Friday night. Wright had no trouble finding the rushing lanes on Friday. He rushed 17 times for 241 yards and five touchdowns. Meanwhile, Wright also threw for 42 yards on 2-5 passing. Ozark is a dangerous football team when the ground is rolling along like it was on Friday. The Hillbillies earned the right to play again next week. [player_tooltip player_id="223617" first="Justin" last="Crutchmer"]-Running Back-Lake Hamilton-2023 The Lake Hamilton Wolves are a team that is built on a devasting rushing attack. Crutchmer has played well all season and his performance last night did not come as a surprise to anyone. Crutchmer rushed for 64 yards on six carries. Meanwhile, Crutchmer also hauled in three receptions for 154 yards and he tacked on two touchdowns on Friday night. [player_tooltip player_id="75141" first="Donovan" last="Whitten"]-Quarterback-Arkadelphia-2023 Arkadelphia has become a state powerhouse over the past few years. [player_tooltip player_id="75141" first="Donovan" last="Whitten"] is putting the state on notice that he is a quarterback to watch out for this playoff and next season. Last night, Whitten was extremely efficient and made great decisions with the football. Whitten was 13-20 for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Look out for the Badgers over the next few weeks they are a dangerous team. [player_tooltip player_id="180296" first="Ty" last="Massey"]-Running Back-Fort Smith Northside-2022 The other talented running back in the Northside duo is [player_tooltip player_id="180296" first="Ty" last="Massey"]. Massey amassed 144 yards on 15 carries. He rushed for three touchdowns as well in what was an incredibly strong Northside rushing attack on Friday night. Massey has the speed to cut it to the outside and is a nightmare to bring down for the opposing defense. Opposing teams must find a way to contain the rushing attack the Grizzlies have put together. [player_tooltip player_id="75133" first="Eli" last="Wisdom"]-Quarterback-Shiloh Christian-2023 Wisdom is a quarterback that can hurt you with his arm or his legs. The Shiloh Christian quarterback was 9-17 for 201 yards through the air. Wisdom also passed for two touchdowns. However, he was not done there, the Shiloh quarterback rushed five times for 106 yards on the ground. Shiloh Christian is always a dangerous team come playoff time and that is something that held true with the playoffs kicking off last night. Tevin Hughes-Running Back-Lake Hamilton-2022 Tevin Hughes has been an explosive player for the Wolves all season long. Friday night he had a strong performance in the opening round of the state playoffs. Hughes had 10 rushes for 70 yards and punched the ball in the end zone three times. The Wolves are going to be a difficult team to contend with during the course of the playoffs.
