Week two of the high school football playoffs are in the books in the state of Arkansas. Which means we had some players light up the Friday night skies for another week; however, we also had some players that finished up the season as well. We are going to take a look at the players that had impressive games in week two of the playoffs. Malachi Gober-Quarterback-North Little Rock-2023 The North Little Rock quarterback was able to lead the Charging Wildcats to the semi-finals with a strong showing against a talented Bentonville team. Gober was 23-34 passing for 153 yards and three touchdowns. Gober is a quarterback that has played well all season and he has kept the momentum going into the playoffs. Gober will look to keep the impressive play going against defending state champions Bryant on Friday. [player_tooltip player_id="94925" first="Jalen" last="Blackburn"]-Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2022 Fayetteville has one of the best receiving corps in the state of Arkansas. Blackburn has a knack for getting open and is one of the most physical wide receivers in the state of Arkansas. Last Friday, the Fayetteville wide receiver hauled in seven receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs will need another strong performance against the Wampus Cats of Conway next Friday night. [player_tooltip player_id="92740" first="Jaylen" last="Hopson"]-Running Back-Prescott-2022 The Curley Wolves are one of the hottest teams in the state of Arkansas and [player_tooltip player_id="92740" first="Jaylen" last="Hopson"] is a big reason for that success. Hopson had a strong performance on Friday night for the Curley Wolves. He rushed for 313 yards and four touchdowns off of 20 carries. Prescott would need every one of those yards and touchdowns in holding off Bismarck. Prescott is one team that is clicking on all cylinders at this point in the season. [player_tooltip player_id="75105" first="Bladen" last="Fike"]-Quarterback-Fayetteville-2022 The Fayetteville Bulldogs and Cabot Panthers put on a great showing at Harmon Field last Friday night. [player_tooltip player_id="75105" first="Bladen" last="Fike"] was a big part of the success the Bulldogs against the Panthers. Fike was 33-47 for 432 yards and four touchdowns. However, Fike was not finished there, he also punched the ball in on the ground one time for a touchdown last Friday. The Purple Dogs will host a rematch at Harmon Field next Friday against the Conway Wampus Cats. [player_tooltip player_id="75066" first="Isaiah" last="Sategna"]-Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2022 The future Arkansas Razorback was all over the field for the Bulldogs last Friday night. When Fayetteville needed a big play, Fike would look in Sategna’s direction. Sategna hauled in 17 receptions for 261 receiving yards last Friday night. Sategna’s speed and route running makes him a recruiting target of major division one programs. The Fayetteville Bulldogs will host Conway this Friday night in what should be a terrific matchup. [player_tooltip player_id="75067" first="Joe" last="Himon"]-Running Back-Pulaski Academy-2022 One of the most versatile running backs in the state of Arkansas had an impressive night last Friday. Himon continued his strong play last Friday night rushing for 103 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries. Meanwhile, Himon was on the receiving end of nine receptions for 55 yards and two touchdowns through the air. The Northwestern staff did a great job of securing Himon’s commitment. [player_tooltip player_id="154331" first="Braden" last="Jay"]-Wide Receiver-Cabot-2022 The Cabot Panthers had a solid gameplan against the Fayetteville Bulldogs last Friday. [player_tooltip player_id="154331" first="Braden" last="Jay"] has done a great job of opening eyes all season and last Friday did not come as a shock to people that were paying attention. Jay was on the receiving end of 12 receptions for 179 yards and one touchdown. However, he was not done there, Jay rushed the ball three times for 42 yards, and he had three kick-off returns accounting for 76 yards. If scouts haven’t evaluated Jay, now would be the time. [player_tooltip player_id="168255" first="Charlie" last="Fiser"]-Quarterback-Pulaski Acdemy-2022 The Pulaski Academy quarterback has had a strong season for the Bruins. Fiser has continued his strong direction of the Pulaski Academy offense. Fiser was 33-53 for 442 yards and five touchdowns. Fiser was able to tack on 10 rushes for 21 yards and he punched the ball in the end zone one time. The Bruins are a hot football team, and this team has the potential to win another state championship. [player_tooltip player_id="153818" first="Sharmon" last="Rester"]-Quarterback-El Dorado-2022 The El Dorado quarterback is blowing up during the course of the playoffs. All of the Wildcats had strong performances last Friday night. Rester 13-24 for 329 yards and four touchdowns. Rester is one of those quarterbacks the defense must account for whether it be throwing the football or running. Rester is a quarterback that scouts will want to take look at. He is done amazing this season and he continues to rack up strong performances in the playoffs. [player_tooltip player_id="134611" first="Alex" last="Turley"]-Linebacker-Arkadelphia-2022 The Badgers have a nasty defense and that was extremely clear last Friday night. Turley was all over the field for the Badgers last week. The Arkadelphia linebacker racked up 18 tackles on the evening. The Arkadelphia defense has done an impressive job all season in giving the opposing offense nightmares all season long. Kam Bibby-Wide Receiver-El Dorado-2022 The El Dorado Wildcats have an extremely talented receiving corps that they do a good job of distributing the ball to. Bibby was all over the field for the Wildcats last Friday night. Bibby hauled in four receptions for 126 yards and one touchdown. He is one player that has the potential to make plenty of noise at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="75112" first="Jackie" last="Washington"] Jr-Wide Receiver-El Dorado-2022 Washington Jr. racked up the receiving yards last Friday night. He caught five passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Washington Jr.’s athletic ability makes him a difficult task for opposing defensive backs to cover. Washington Jr. has the potential to be a nightmare to contain at the next level. Scouts and fans should keep an eye him in his last few games as an El Dorado Wildcat. [player_tooltip player_id="75141" first="Donovan" last="Whitten"]-Quarterback-Arkadelphia-2023 One quarterback that is going to be a player to watch over the next few months is [player_tooltip player_id="75141" first="Donovan" last="Whitten"] at the quarterback position. Whitten had a stellar night last Friday night for the Badgers. Whitten 11-12 for 281 yards through the air. Whitten passed for five touchdowns, and he also used his legs in rushing five times for 40 yards. Whitten is an accurate quarterback and he does a great job of getting the ball to his receivers.
