Below we take a look at the top five quarterback performances from Week 2 of the playoffs as the group was led by a quarterback who completed over 78% of his passes.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="190995" first="Matt" last="Welsey"] | Shawnee </strong>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Wesley put on a dominating performance last weekend as he completed 78% of his passes in a 42-7 victory over Clearview. He completed 18 of 23 throws for 250 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing seven times for 17 yards and another score. He threw touchdown passes of 24, 28 and 35 yards while rushing one in from 7 yards out. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Analysis:</strong> Wesley often makes good reads in the RPO and zone option and isn’t afraid to tuck the ball and run. He has good vision when running and has the ability to move the pocket and throw on the run. He has enough arm strength to make a throw from the far hash to the far out. </span>
<strong>Devon Kargman | Woodrow Wilson </strong>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The standout signal-caller once again put up impressive numbers as he completed 18 of 26 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns in Woodrow Wilson’s 34-7 victory over Manasquan. He also rushed the ball four times for 36 yards and touchdown. He threw touchdown passes of 23, 55 and 70 yards while running one in from 2 yards out in the second quarter. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Analysis:</strong> Kragman showed again why he’s one of the top signal-callers in the state. He’s got good zip on short-to-intermediate passes. He consistently makes on-target throws from the pocket and shows he’s capable of pushing the ball downfield. </span>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="214415" first="Bryan" last="Johnson"] | Woodbury </strong>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Johnson helped Woodbury to a 44-23 victory over Penns Grove as he completed 23 of 33 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns. He threw touchdown passes of 11 and 18 yards, both of which came in the second quarter. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Analysis:</strong> The southpaw stands tall in the pocket and has the arm strength to get the ball to his receivers in small windows. He shows above-average accuracy by putting the ball in spots where only his receivers can catch the ball. </span>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="187663" first="Luke" last="Kurzum"] | Caldwell </strong>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Kurzum completed 14 of 16 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns as Caldwell shutout Westwood 35-0. He threw touchdown passes of 18, 37 and 45 yards. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Analysis:</strong> Kurzum got the ball out of his hand in a hurry as he often put the ball right on the receiver as they were making their breaks in their routes. He throws an accurate short to intermediate pass and had success on seam routes and slants. </span>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="118977" first="Jack" last="Grusser"] | Ramapo </strong>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Grusser continued his strong season as the junior completed 16 of 26 passes for 265 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-31 victory over Ridge. The dual-threat also added 63 yards on the ground on six carries.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Analysis:</strong> Grusser showed nice poise in the pocket and he does a great job using his eyes to bait the defender to give his receivers time to get separation. He threw a number of nice deep balls that were put into spots that only his receiver could make a play on the ball. He showcases above-average accuracy and touch. </span>
