The Missouri High School Class 6 football playoff have been rolling along toward the state championship game on November 27 in Columbia. Now, after four district championship games on Friday night, we are down to just four teams remaining.
<strong>DISTRICT 1</strong>

<strong>Notes:</strong> CBC entered the Missouri Class 6 playoffs as the No. 1 team in the Class 6 media rankings and the Cadets have lived up to that billing with three victories against three Metro Catholic Conference opponents. CBC took care of upset-minded St. Louis University High, 42-21, and extended its winning streak to 11 games despite being outscored by the visiting Junior Billikens in the second half. Senior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37608" first="Patrick" last="Heitert"]</strong> threw for 196 yards and three touchdowns. Junior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171841" first="Dylan" last="Van"]</strong> rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Junior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37738" first="Ralph" last="Dixon"]</strong> added 103 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. The CBC defense recorded four sacks — senior DL <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103094" first="Collin" last="Bell"]</strong>, senior LBs <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171842" first="Kendall" last="Huston"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171844" first="Jaycob" last="Tatum"]</strong> and junior OLB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37698" first="Wyatt" last="Haverstick"]</strong> — and an interception (from junior LB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103780" first="Michael" last="Teason"]</strong>). ... SLUH was led by senior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="99449" first="Chris" last="Brooks Jr"].</strong>, who scored all three of the Junior Billikens’ touchdowns, including two on the ground as a short-yardage wildcat quarterback. Brooks made a verbal commitment to Yale, but is sure to attract plenty of attention from schools before signing day after scoring 21 touchdowns this season. Senior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="233161" first="Andre" last="Tucker"]</strong> is only listed at 5-feet-8 and 157 pounds, but showed some shiftiness and elusiveness with the ball in his hands. Freshman TE <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="233162" first="Landon" last="Pace"]</strong> got some snaps early for the Junior Billikens. The son of former St. Louis Rams standout Orlando Pace, Landon already has good size (6-3) and will be a player to watch in the future. Older brother Jalen Pace was a standout a MICDS and is now a freshman at Ohio State, his dad’s alma mater. ... CBC will now host District 3 No. 1 seed Lee’s Summit North in the quarterfinals this Friday, which means the Cadets’ road to the Class 6 championship game will include four straight home games.

<strong>Notes: </strong>The Class 6 District 2 championship game pitted the top two seeds in a rematch of one of the most memorable games of the season and the rematch lived up to the advanced billing. Earlier this season it was Howell who defeated Troy Buchanan on a touchdown with just 13 seconds left. In the rematch on Friday night it was Troy that emerged with a 23-21 victory after junior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37718" first="Charos" last="Sutton"]</strong> connected with senior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="212002" first="Nathan" last="Ryan"]</strong> for a touchdown pass as time expired. Sutton threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 111 yards. The dual-threat quarterback has now accounted for 41 touchdowns in 12 games. Ryan, who is one of the state’s most underrated wide receivers, finished with a season-high nine receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He now has 51 catches for 1,177 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. ... Junior TE <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37661" first="Brett" last="Norfleet"]</strong> caught a touchdown pass from senior QB <strong>Booker Simmons</strong> for Howell, while junior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="37667" first="Brady" last="Hultman"]</strong> and senior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="197358" first="Gabe" last="James"]</strong> both added rushing touchdowns.
<strong>District 3</strong>

<strong>Notes:</strong> Lee’s Summit North put together a strong all-around performance to defeat Joplin, 21-0, and win the district title on Friday night. Senior QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171825" first="Tre" last="Baker"]</strong>, a Southern Illinois commitment, threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another touchdown. Junior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="177941" first="Devin" last="Blayney"]</strong> caught six passes for 149 yards and a score. The LSN defense shut out a Joplin squad that had scored at least 21 points in every game this season. Junior DB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="177943" first="DeAndre" last="Beasley"]</strong> and junior LB <strong>Kade Williams</strong> both snagged interceptions for the Broncos, who are allowing just 10.8 points per game this season. ... Lee’s Summit North is now 11-1 and celebrates a district championship after going 4-5 a year ago and 5-5 in 2019. The Broncos will go on the road in the quarterfinals and cross the entire state to face off with top-ranked CBC, which is averaging 48.9 points per game.

<strong>Notes: [player_tooltip player_id="172248" first="Sam" last="Van Dyne"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="217659" first="Cayden" last="Arzola"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="233159" first="Tate" last="McGuire"]</strong> powered second-seeded Liberty North to a 34-14 victory over previously undefeated top seed Park Hill South for North’s 10th straight victory. Van Dyne, a junior quarterback with a scholarship offer from Missouri, threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Arzola, a senior running back, rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. He surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in the victory Maguire, a junior wide receiver, caught just two passes, but they went for 76 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles defense was led by junior LB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="233158" first="Kaden" last="Durso"]</strong> and junior DE <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103397" first="Jacob" last="Stockard"]</strong>, who each recorded two sacks. ... Park Hill South senior QB <strong>Nathan Ricco</strong> threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception, and senior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="96818" first="Mudia" last="Reuben"]</strong> caught five passes for 102 yards and two scores.
