The Liberty North football team had to drive three and a half hours to get to its Class 6 semifinal game at Troy Buchanan on Saturday, but the seven-hour round trip road trip will be one the Eagles and their fans never forget.
Liberty North overcame an early deficit by scoring 28 unanswered points and defeated host Troy Buchanan 35-21 to earn the school’s first trip to a football state championship game.
Liberty North, which opened the season with a loss to Bentonville (Ark.), has won 11 straight games and will meet CBC (12-1) in the Missouri Class 6 championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday at the University of Missouri.
CBC, which also hasn’t lost since dropping its season opener, will be attempting to win its third state title in five years and fourth in eight seasons.

Special teams play can make the difference in the playoffs and Craig did his part by kicking two field goals in the first half. He kicked a 28-yarder midway through the first quarter for North’s first points of the game and then added a 40-yarder late in the second quarter.
