Here are your standouts from the Keller vs Trinity 6A Division 1 1st Round playoff game. Trinity Standouts - [player_tooltip player_id="60744" first="Ollie" last="Gordon"] - 2022 RB - 6’2"/205: The Oklahoma State commitment added another big night to his already impressive career and SR season finishing with 25-carries for 209-yards and 4 TDs to go with 2-receptions for 43-yards and another TD. And what’s funny is, he didn’t even really get going until the 2nd quarter as Keller did a great job bottling him up in the 1st quarter of the game before the Trinity OL and Gordon took over. He brings a taller, athletic and lean frame that looks more like a bigger WR when you see him up close. Plenty of room on his frame to put on some pounds once he gets to Stillwater. On the night he displayed not only the long speed he brings but also his ability to make people miss in tight quarters as he showed a nice spin move on multiple occasions to go along with make you miss ability in the open field. On the TD catch in the tweet below he made a nice adjustment to the back shoulder throw before immediately hitting the brakes on the defender that sat him down before racing to the end zone. Just really impressive body control and start-stop ability. Showed nice feet and balance through trash and through contact. Gordon displayed special ability with the ball in his hands rather in the running or passing game throughout the night. Would like to see him lower his pad level on runs up the middle as with his tall frame he leaves himself vulnerable to punishing blows if that doesn’t change at the next level. But overall its easy to see the Cowboys are getting a talented prospect to add to their backfield with a versatile skillset. https://twitter.com/AKing_Evals/status/1459335928850305027?s=20 https://twitter.com/AKing_Evals/status/1459383594669985794?s=20 Nai Mose - 2022 LB - 6’/215: This was my first time getting an up close look at Mose and I came away more impressed with an aspect of his game I had only seen glimpses of on his clips. On film he shows the ability to set the edge with his physicality vs the run game, closes in a hurry and shows he can be an effective blitzer off the edge. But it was his ability to play in space vs the passing game on this night that really stood out. At his size it’s easy to assume he is just a downhill force but he looked very comfortable dropping into coverage on the night showing off his athleticism and ball skills he brings coming coming down with two interceptions. Both plays were really impressive with the second being one he went up and high pointed. His motor and effort he plays with was the other aspect of his game I enjoyed watching as he was chasing plays across the field like I mentioned in the first tweet below. Has a want to in him. He doesn’t bring the length coaches at the next level covet but this kid can play and is plenty athletic to have more than just the one offer he currently holds Sam Houston State with the well rounded game he brings to the table. https://twitter.com/AKing_Evals/status/1459394319811551233?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="131974" first="Misiolo" last="Maluia"] - 2023 iOL - 6’2"/285: I’ve been a big fan of Maluia’s for a while now and he showed the nasty disposition I’ve spoken of before on Twitter again on this night. [player_tooltip player_id="60744" first="Ollie" last="Gordon"] found running lanes running directly behind Misiolo all night. Didn’t matter if he was at LG or RG, he was either burying defenders to the ground or driving them down field in the run game. Fired low off the ball with the natural leverage he has and showed when he latches those mitts on you, its over for you as you saw him contort defenders bodies at times knocking them to the ground. It can look so easy for him to gain control of a defender with that grip and strength he has to shut them down. But one of the other parts about his game that I always enjoy watching is when he gets a defender on the ground you always see him throw himself on top of them while they are down just to bury them once more. Trinity finished with 273-yards on the ground and Malui was a big part of that. David Langi - 2022 LB - 5’11"/215: Like Mose, Langi was fun to watch in his own right on the night. Saw him on multiple occasions show his instincts and quickness as he shot through gaps into the backfield to blow plays up. He was flying around trying to take people’s heads off as you’ll see in the second tweet below, I was on the other end of the field and you can hear the pop he delivered on the QB. That clip also shows you the sideline-2-sideline speed he brings. However, his best play of the game came on the interception I tweeted about below. Just look at the explosive leaping ability he has to go up and high point this ball. And it looked effortless for him. He obviously lacks height which is playing into why he doesn’t have offers I’m sure but this guy is a good football player that could also play safety at the next level if needed from what I saw. https://twitter.com/AKing_Evals/status/1459341054625390595?s=20 https://twitter.com/AKing_Evals/status/1459394997581717505?s=20 Keller Standouts - Amarion Henry - 2023 WR - 5’11"/185: This was my second time seeing Henry in person this year and I can definitely say there is a lot to like about this young man’s game. Coming into the night I wondered if Keller would get the ball to him often and that’s exactly what they did. On the first drive of the game, Henry had 4-receptions, including a 5-yard TD catch to give Keller the lead early. He ended up finishing the night with 9-receptions for 93-yards and 1-touchdown. Kid is sudden and that mixed with his crisp route running allowed him to create separation and give his QB wide open looks. He also showed he’s not easy to tackle by either making people miss or running through would be tacklers and creating yards after catch. Like how he showed he will go across the middle and make tough catches while knowing he is going to take a lick. On one occasion he ran a slant beating the DB off the line with ease before making a hands catch up and away from his body. Another impressive part of his game is the easy ball skills he has and it showed not only on this night but the previous time I saw him as well. Only issue I saw with him on the night was a few times he got too lax with his ball security running with it while palming it in one hand like Deion used too and it cost him on one occasion leading to a fumble recovery for the Trojans. Definitely surprised at this point that he doesn’t already hold an FBS offer. https://twitter.com/AKing_Evals/status/1459329098854055938?s=20 https://twitter.com/AKing_Evals/status/1459330805541621766?s=20 Tre Griffiths - 2024 WR - 6’4"/200: Griffith’s speed jumped out at me on his first reception of the game that went for 35-yards before he was forced out of bounds, especially when you combine it with the size that he has. You’ll notice in the video below he’s not getting caught from behind. He has the take the top off the defense type speed. But he’s not just a straight line type guy as he showed fluid agility and athleticism with the ability to sink his hips into his breaks which is really impressive at his size. With the body and length he has he is able to shield or box out defenders and when you mix that with how he showed he can go up and high point on one reception he had, you re talking about a red zone nightmare. When he wasn’t running routes you saw the physicality you would hope to see from him as a blocker in the run game as well. On the night he finished with 6-receptions for 89-yards and 1-touchdown. This guy is a Power 5 WR all day long and it’s just a matter of time before his recruitment takes off. https://twitter.com/AKing_Evals/status/1459334991637274628?s=20 Zac O’Day - 2022 S - 5’11"/185: O’Day was someone that grabbed my attention on multiple occasions and for different parts of his game. On a 4th down early in the game he showed smooth change of direction on a slant & go on [player_tooltip player_id="60744" first="Ollie" last="Gordon"] up the seam before getting his head around and working to force the incompletion in the end zone. Really solid play vs a longer athlete. Showed he can also handle his own in space as if it wasn’t for him Gordon would have had another long TD run but O’Day did a great job staying patient and square before attacking his hips getting him to the ground. Another play that stood out was his motor, effort and speed he showed to chase down a Trinity WR down the sideline knocking him out of bounds short of the end zone. He had numerous tackles on the night showing his physical mindset making it easy to see why he holds FCS and D-II offers.
