Interstate 8 Regular Season Standout Players

<strong>Harper Creek (7-3) (Plays Parma Western 11/5 @Home)</strong> <strong>#33 Julion McCray </strong>| RB | 2022 | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2FvyDW">Hudl</a> McCray was easily one of the best running backs in the Interstate 8 Conference this season. McCray runs the ball with urgency every single time, looking to run through tackles and get to the endzone. McCray had some outstanding runs in the 33-14 victory over Lumen Christi. Julion McCray will look to continue his terrific play tomorrow night when Haper Creek hosts Parma Western. <strong>Hasting (9-1) (Plays Grand Rapids South Christian 11/5 @Home)</strong> <strong>#20 TJ Russell </strong>| RB | 2022 | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2G6dpp">Hudl</a> Russell has played a big role in the success of the Hastings football team this season. Russell is a guy who has a nasty stiff arm and does not get tackled easily. In the highlight against Coldwater, you saw just the pure determination to fight guys off and get as much yardage as he could. Hastings would love for Russell to have a big game tomorrow against Grand Rapids South Christian. <strong>Battle Creek Pennfield (3-6)</strong> <strong>#5 Luke Davis </strong>| ATH | 2022 | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2Fnf9b">Hudl</a> Luke Davis is a fun player to watch. He has an unbelievable ability to make people miss especially in the open field. Just in the highlight from the first 5 weeks alone, Davis had plays where he would side-step at least three defenders. Ability to make plays like that demonstrate really how great he is as an athlete. <strong>Lumen Christi (9-1) (Plays Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central 11/5 @ Home)</strong> <strong>#7 Cole Simpson </strong>| RB/DB | 2022 | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2GEnJa">Hudl</a> Simpson did a great job of helping his team win games by making plays on offense and defense. He is always around the football on defense. Offensively, Lumen Christi used him in a variety of different ways. There were times they lined him up in the backfield, split him out in the slot at receiver. Simpson has very good speed and showed the ability to break homerun plays multiple times throughout the season. St. Mary Catholic Central will need to be on the lookout for where Simpson is lined up at all times tomorrow night. <strong>Parma Western (7-3) (Plays @ Harper Creek 11/5)</strong> <strong>#11 Nolan Wheeler </strong>| QB | 2022 | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2G9yZ2">Hudl</a> Nolan Wheeler has been a great competitor at the quarterback position this season for Western. Against Northwest early in the season, Wheeler made a terrific throw down the sidelines to get help set up a touchdown that put them back in front. Wheeler showed tremendous poise in the win over St. Johns. All night the Panthers' offense had struggled. On the final Western offensive drive, Wheeler took the team downfield and scored a touchdown to put Western up by 8 points with just over a minute left. That ended up being the winning drive as St. Johns could not capitalize on the next possession. This has been a great year for Interstate 8 Conference football. This conference always has great players and is one of the best football conferences in the state. Make sure to watch one of these teams play Friday night as they look move onward now towards getting to Ford Field.
