Round 1
In the first week of the playoff was exciting with many many surprises and long games. Our first game was between 16th seed Omaha North V.S. 1st seed Millard South. Where The vikings had a huge 14 back comeback to beat the unbeaten Patriots 49-42. The next game the 8th seed North Platte beat 9th seed Columbus 24-17. The next game was a huge thriller being back and forth until the end when 5th seed Gretna beat 12th seed Lincoln East 59-42. Next the 4th seeded Storm of Elkhorn South took on the 13th seed Kearny Bearcats 35-20. Bellevue West took care of Papillion La Vista 63-26. The 11th seed Grand Island Islanders pulled off the second upset of round 1 taking out the 6th seeded Creighton Prep Bluejays 30-28. The 7th seeded Burke Bulldogs swept 10th seeded Lincoln Southeast 21-3 and then 2nd seeded Omaha Westside creamed Papillion La Vista South 49-0.
Quarter Finals
Omaha North squeaked out a 35-34 win over North Platte keeping their hopes alive with the most losses than any other team this far. Gretna and Elkhorn South had a thriller as they fought with each other till the very end leading with a Gretna victory 14-7. Bellevue West took care of the Islanders 52-20. Westside then took care of Burke 42-3 to finish off the Bulldogs playoff hopes.
Semi Finals
The Cinderella story for the Omaha North Vikings was ended short by Gretna whose defense held strong and shut the Vikings out 34-0, And finally the last game was a strong win between two good teams overall Westside finished on-top with a 41-26 victory over the Bellevue West Thunderbirds.
State Championship
The Class A State Championship will be between Omaha Westside and Gretna. Gretna has built themselves up going from losing almost every game when they moved up to Class A. The last two seasons have been the best seasons since the Dragons joined Class A, In their first two seasons in Class A Gretna went 6-12, in the last two seasons they have gone 17-3 a complete turn around from before. This year they have passed for 2,585 yards for 27 Touchdowns. They have rushed for 1,648 yards and 24 touchdowns, on Defense they have had 48 tackles for losses which entails 21 sacks. They also have forced 15 turnovers 9 of which are interceptions 6 of which are fumbles. The Westside Warriors are usuals when it come to the state playoffs Being the last undefeated team this year at 11-0 they are looking for back to back state champions after going 12-0 last year.
